Hairdresser's Assistant – Possibility of Advancement to a Chair

J'AIME! Hair Salon, a salon established since 2009 in the heart of Plateau-Mont-Royal, is looking for a motivated, passionate hairdresser's assistant who is eager to develop their career in the hairdressing industry.

This position is for someone who wants to learn, progress, and eventually integrate a chair as a hairdresser within our team.

At J'AIME!, the role of an assistant is not limited to support tasks. We want to support the right person in their technical, professional, and human development so they can build a clientele and gradually progress to a chair position.

Main Responsibilities

• Welcome clients and contribute to a warm and high-end experience
• Prepare clients for services
• Perform shampoos, hair treatments, and scalp massages
• Prepare and clean workstations
• Assist hairdressers during coloring, highlights, and transformations
• Prepare materials, products, and tools
• Participate in applying certain products based on experience and training
• Perform drying, curling, and finishing according to developed skills
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, bins, and color bar
• Help with product organization and inventory management
• Collaborate with the entire team to ensure smooth daily operations
• Occasionally participate in reception, appointment taking, and customer service
• Development Path
• The chosen person will benefit from progressive mentorship, including:
• Observing experienced hairdressers
• Training in shampoos, treatments, and client experience
• Developing drying and finishing techniques
• Training in cutting, coloring, and hair theory
• Supervised practice on models when ready
• Regular skill and goal evaluations
• Gradual offering of certain services
• Potential transition to a chair based on progress, autonomy, and demonstrated skills

Advancement to a chair is not based solely on seniority. It depends on commitment, consistency, work quality, professional attitude, and ability to provide excellent customer service.

• Completed or in the process of completing a hairdressing program

Previous salon experience is an asset, but we are primarily looking for a serious, motivated individual ready to invest in their development.
