Description

Puzzle Medical Devices® Inc. is developing a minimally invasive cardiac pump intended for patients with advanced heart failure. The device design allows for a minimally invasive implantation to support both renal and cardiac functions through a 4 mm pump implanted in the descending aorta with a 4 Fr axillary training line, enabling full patient mobility.

Puzzle Medical Devices is seeking a Metrologist to join its team. This role is essential to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and quality of components and assemblies used in our medical devices. The Metrologist will perform precise measurements, inspections, and analyses of components, prototypes, and production pieces to support product development, manufacturing, and quality assurance activities. The selected individual will contribute to maintaining high standards of dimensional and visual specification compliance while participating in organizational continuous improvement initiatives.

Precision Measurement and Inspection

  • Perform dimensional and visual inspections of components, assemblies, and prototypes using advanced metrology equipment, including 3D measuring machines (MMT/CMM), optical measurement systems, and precision measurement instruments.
  • Develop and execute inspection plans based on technical drawings, specifications, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) requirements.
  • Program and operate MMT/CMM equipment and associated software.

Quality Assurance and Quality Control

  • Verify that components meet specified dimensions, tolerances, and acceptance criteria.
  • Identify, document, and communicate non-conformities, deviations, and inspection results.
  • Support root cause investigations and corrective actions related to dimensional and quality issues.

Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Analyze measurement data to identify trends, process variations, and improvement opportunities.
  • Generate detailed inspection reports and provide recommendations to engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams.
  • Participate in measurement system analysis (MSA), repeatability and reproducibility (Gauge R&R) studies, and process capability evaluations.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality teams to support product development, validation, and production activities.
