About Us

YHU Terminal is a partnership between Porter Aviation Holdings and Macquarie Asset Management to develop and operate a new state-of-the-art passenger terminal at MET - Montreal Metropolitan Airport in Saint-Hubert. The private Terminal operator offers modern facilities that will eventually welcome up to four million passengers a year.

The Deicing Agent is responsible for performing aircraft de/anti-icing procedures in accordance with established safety and environmental protocols. This role ensures the integrity of aircraft surfaces prior to departure and contributes to the overall safety and timeliness of flight operations during inclement weather. Agents will operate specialized de-icing vehicles and equipment, communicate with flight and ground crews, and support glycol fluid handling operations under regulatory guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

Aircraft De/Anti-Icing Operations

Operate deicing vehicles and equipment to apply Type I and Type IV fluids to aircraft surfaces as requested by the flight crew.

Perform contamination inspections of aircraft surfaces as required prior to deicing.

Follow established procedures with regards to deicing and anti-icing as shown in training in accordance with regulatory and airline-specific requirements.

Communicate effectively with other Deicing Agents and the Deicing Coordinator to ensure proper deicing and anti-icing of aircraft.

Perform post-treatment checks of aircraft surfaces after deicing to ensure the treatment is given as requested.

Document all de/anti-icing operations in accordance with regulatory and airline-specific requirements.

Safety and Environmental Compliance

Adhere strictly to YHU Terminal's safety management system (SMS) and standard operating procedures (SOP).

Conduct all work in compliance with Transport Canada, SAE, and airline-specific regulations.

Utilize PPE and handle glycol fluids and equipment safely to avoid personal injury or environmental impact.

Respond to and report any fluid spills, equipment malfunctions, or unsafe conditions immediately.

Equipment and Facility Maintenance

Conduct pre-operational inspections of de-icing trucks and equipment at the beginning of each shift.

Ensure proper mixing, handling, and storage of de-icing fluids in the designated areas.

Monitor fluid levels and assist with loading, offloading, and recirculation processes.

Assist with post-operation equipment cleaning and facility housekeeping as directed.

Conduct post-operational inspections of de-icing trucks and equipment at the end of each shift (including fueling and glycol reloading).

Other Duties

Maintain a clean and hazard-free working area.

Support operational readiness by ensuring equipment is properly cleaned, stored, and secured after each shift.

Participate in operational briefings, training sessions, and seasonal readiness drills.

Perform any other duties required by immediate manager or designate.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Additional training in airport ground operations or vehicle operation is an asset.

Experience

Previous experience in airport operations or with deicing equipment is preferred.

Valid driver's license (Class 5 required; Class 1 or 3 is an asset).

Skills & Competencies

Ability to work outdoors in winter conditions for extended periods.

Familiarity with deicing fluids (Type I and IV) and equipment operation is an asset.

Strong communication skills and attention to detail under high-pressure situations.

Capable of working safely around aircraft, glycol fluids, and mobile equipment.
