Gentec Electro-Optique, a leader in laser beam measurement and characterization, is seeking a passionate individual to join its multidisciplinary team (software, electronics, optics, mechanics, and materials) in research and development.
Roles and Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Vice President of R&D, you will play a key role in the development and evolution of our cutting-edge technological solutions. You will actively participate in the entire product lifecycle, from design to production, including development, testing, and continuous improvement:
- Contribute to the design and development of innovative new products
- Participate in validation, testing, and performance optimization activities
- Support and enhance existing products to maximize their performance and technological capabilities
In this role, you will have a direct impact on the quality and innovation of our laser measurement instruments, in an environment where collaboration and technical excellence are at the heart of the priorities.
Main Responsibilities
- Design and develop robust, modular, and scalable embedded software for our state-of-the-art laser measurement instruments.
- Actively contribute to the creation of new products and the improvement and maintenance of existing ones.
- Participate in the definition of deliverables and project planning.
- Develop embedded firmware for microcontrollers and FPGAs, integrating high performance and reliability requirements.
- Develop and maintain Linux embedded applications, in a stimulating technical environment.
- Perform diagnostic, validation, and tuning activities using specialized measurement and generation instruments.
Quality Aspect
- Collaborate closely with the quality team to establish and automate tests, ensuring the robustness and reliability of the software.
- Design and maintain clear and structured documentation, while developing high-performance, durable, and scalable software architectures.
- Ensure harmonious integration between hardware and software, in partnership with the R&D teams.
- Apply current technical standards and actively contribute to their continuous improvement.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, or relevant field
- 10+ years of experience in microcontroller and embedded systems programming
- Excellent knowledge of microcontroller architectures (STM, MSP) and FPGAs (VHDL).
- Practical experience with Linux embedded systems and real-time environments (RTOS).
- Good knowledge of communication protocols (TCP/IP, UART, I²C, etc.).
- Experience in developing instrument control and test bench software, particularly in Python.
- Strong knowledge of digital and analog electronics
- Proficiency in both French and English, both spoken and written
Additional Experience and Competencies
- Demonstrate positive leadership and strong teamwork, communication, and priority management skills.
- Show curiosity, autonomy, and rigor, with the ability to quickly assimilate new technologies.
- Have a strong interest in applied mathematics and algorithm implementation.
- Possess experience in programming with Python, C#, and LabVIEW.
- Be familiar with project management and collaboration tools such as JIRA and SVN (an asset).
