Job Title: Project Control Officer (PCO) – Intermediate

Location: Montreal, QC – 3 days/week on-site – 2 days/week remote

Job Type: 6-month renewable contract

Experience Level: Intermediate (3 to 5 years)

  • Reports To: PMO Director / Senior Project Manager

We are seeking an Intermediate Project Control Officer (PCO), who is meticulous and proactive, to join our Project Management Office (PMO). In this role, you will be part of the project management team and support project managers by contributing to the definition of project scope, the development of the WBS (Work Breakdown Structure), the creation of the schedule, project health tracking, financial management, and strict adherence to project governance frameworks.

You will work closely with project managers and IT resource managers to optimize resource allocation, identify delivery-related risks, and maintain accurate project documentation. The ideal candidate possesses excellent organizational skills, strong communication abilities, the capacity to help resolve issues and remove obstacles, a willingness to work as a team to achieve project goals, and demonstrated experience in supporting medium to large-scale corporate projects.

Key Responsibilities

Schedule and Milestone Tracking: Develop and maintain project plans, monitor critical path milestones, track resource allocation, and ensure project management tools are up-to-date.

Governance and Compliance: Apply PMO standards, ensure project deliverables comply with organizational frameworks, and coordinate key project phase reviews.

Risk and Issue Management: Facilitate risk assessment sessions, maintain the project RAID (Risks, Actions, Issues, and Decisions) register, and escalate critical items.

Financial Management: Track project budgets, forecast monthly expenses, process vendor invoices, perform financial variance analysis, and report budget overruns to management.

Reports and Documentation: Consolidate status updates to produce PMO weekly and monthly dashboards, write meeting minutes, and maintain central project documentation repositories.

Stakeholder Coordination: Serve as the central point of contact between multidisciplinary teams, external vendors, and PMO leadership to facilitate communication.

Qualifications and Skills

Experience: 3 to 5 years of dedicated experience as a PCO or Project Coordinator within a structured PMO environment.

Education: Bachelor's degree (or equivalent professional experience) in business administration, finance, information technology, or a related field.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in project management tools such as MS Project, Jira, and Confluence. Advanced experience with the Microsoft suite. Knowledge of collaboration tools such as Teams and SharePoint.

Methodologies: Strong practical knowledge of Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall (cascade) methodologies.

Interpersonal Skills: Excellent organizational skills, strong analytical abilities, and communication skills to clearly present project progress to internal teams, external partners, and executive members.

Certifications: CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) or PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is considered an asset.

Compensation: $40.00 to $50.00 per hour

Job Location: Hybrid remote in Montreal, QC
