We are seeking a Specialist - Commodity Management - Indirect Purchasing to join our team!
The Specialist - Commodity Management - Indirect Purchasing is responsible for managing strategic procurement and purchasing activities for the indirect spending categories assigned to them, in support of MHIRJ's operational and commercial objectives. This role involves developing and implementing procurement strategies, evaluating supplier capabilities, and conducting competitive procurement initiatives to ensure the acquisition of goods and services that meet quality, delivery, technical specifications, and commercial terms requirements.
In close collaboration with internal stakeholders, the procurement chain agent directs procurement processes, negotiates commercial terms, drafts and manages supplier contracts, and identifies opportunities to optimize costs, improve supplier performance, and create value for the organization. The incumbent relies on market information, purchasing best practices, and sound commercial judgment to facilitate effective decision-making and mitigate procurement and contract-related risks.
The Specialist - Commodity Management - Indirect Purchasing is also responsible for managing supplier relationships and monitoring their performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations, service expectations, and operational requirements. This role contributes to resolving commercial issues and participates in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at optimizing procurement processes, governance, and overall purchasing efficiency.
Based in Boisbriand, Quebec, and reporting to the Indirect Procurement Chain Manager, the incumbent manages complex procurement activities in key indirect spending categories, including Corporate Services (CS), Aircraft Maintenance Operations (ASO), and other products assigned to them, to meet the procurement needs of the MHIRJ group.
Your Contribution as a Specialist - Commodity Management - Indirect Purchasing:
- Establish and maintain strategic relationships with suppliers from a commercial and contractual perspective.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop new procurement sources and establish strategic partnerships with suppliers.
- Lead the development and implementation of procurement strategies for complex projects involving indirect goods and services, including drafting, negotiating, and managing contracts with suppliers.
- Identify, analyze, and implement cost-saving and value-creation opportunities across the product categories assigned to you.
- Work in partnership with stakeholders to understand business needs and propose effective procurement solutions while maximizing synergies within the MHI group.
- Manage supplier performance and ensure compliance with contractual obligations, service levels, and business requirements.
- Support business stakeholders in managing supplier performance issues, contractual disputes, and complaints, and conduct associated commercial negotiations if necessary.
- Ensure that procurement activities and contracts comply with MHIRJ's policies, governance requirements, and contractual standards.
- Maintain up-to-date procurement governance records, performance metrics, and key performance indicators to support BSI procurement objectives.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities within procurement processes, tools, and practices.
- Share knowledge and best practices in procurement to foster interfunctional collaboration and continuous improvement.
What is Required to Succeed
- You hold a bachelor's degree in business administration, law, supply chain management, or a related field.
- Proven experience in the full contract lifecycle, including drafting, reviewing, negotiating, signing, and administering commercial contracts and agreements with suppliers.
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressive experience in strategic procurement, indirect purchasing, and contract management covering multiple categories of indirect goods and services, preferably within a multinational organization.
- Experience collaborating with global suppliers and in international procurement activities is considered an asset.
- Experience in the aerospace industry and/or a manufacturing environment is considered a major asset.
- Proven expertise in supplier negotiations, commercial agreements, and contract management, combined with a keen sense of business and legal matters.
- Proven track record in implementing initiatives aimed at sustainable cost reduction, value creation, and supplier performance improvement.
- Solid knowledge of procurement and category management principles, strategic procurement methodologies, supplier relationship management, and financial analysis.
- Proven ability to manage complex procurement projects and lead cross-functional initiatives in a dynamic commercial environment.
- Experience in developing and presenting procurement strategies, profitability analyses, and recommendations to senior management and interfunctional stakeholders.
- Strong leadership, influencing, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a continuous improvement mindset and the ability to drive innovation and measurable business results.
Sharp organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting tight deadlines;
- Self-motivation, ability to work autonomously, and sound judgment in a fast-paced environment;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook), SAP S/4HANA, or other ERP systems, as well as Power BI;
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills;
- Fluent proficiency in both French and English, both spoken and written. English is required for the position as the selected candidate will need to regularly communicate with colleagues, clients, or partners located outside of Quebec.
