Description

As a Senior Risk Advisor, Non-Financial Risk (Data), you exercise strategic leadership in integrated risk oversight with a particular focus on data-related risks across the Desjardins Movement. You contribute to the development of strategic orientations, positions, and frameworks in data governance, quality, and risk management. You act as a recognized expert before the executive team, business sectors, and decision-making bodies. Your role involves anticipating emerging data-related risks, influencing organizational orientations, and ensuring the evolution of risk management practices in an integrated, sustainable, and strategy-aligned perspective. The nature of the cases handled presents a high level of complexity, ambiguity, and organizational impact. Your expertise directly contributes to the protection of the organization's reputation, regulatory compliance, and performance. Specifically, you are part of a team of about ten complementary profiles aimed at developing a comprehensive and integrated oversight of non-financial risks to which the Desjardins Movement is exposed. This second-line defense team ensures effective risk management and contributes to the enhancement of operational practices in collaboration with the teams of the different components of the Desjardins Movement. Specifically, you will be tasked with:

  • Advising decision-making bodies and senior executives on strategic issues of data quality, integrity, and governance.
  • Representing the risk oversight function in internal and external strategic forums.
  • Ensuring cross-cutting and integrated risk oversight across the Desjardins Movement.
  • Evaluating the overall effectiveness of governance, quality, and data protection management and control devices.
  • Producing strategic analyses to illuminate decision-making by governance bodies.
  • Formulating high-value recommendations aimed at continuous improvement of the organization's risk profile.
  • Exercising an expert-level advisory role, cross-cutting, to executives, business sectors, and risk management functions.
  • Influencing the orientations, priorities, and action plans of the concerned sectors to ensure proactive risk management.
  • Accompanying the teams responsible for implementing governance programs and ensuring the consistency of practices across the Desjardins Movement.

What you will bring

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline
  • Minimum of eight years of relevant experience in non-financial risk management
  • Please note that other combinations of education and relevant experience may be considered
  • Experience in executive-level presentation and writing
  • French language proficiency is required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Knowledge of data analysis and visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, SQL)
  • Knowledge of internal control frameworks according to COSO-type references
  • Knowledge of ISO standards related to risk management and data governance (ISO 31000, ISO 27001)
  • Knowledge of the three lines of defense model and risk governance principles
