The incumbent of the position supervises the operation of a designated sector of the shift or section and contributes to the effective management of the mechanized or manual processing of mail.
Professional Responsibilities
Here are the main requirements and responsibilities related to the supervisor position, Manual and Mechanized Processing.
- Establish daily priorities in the designated sector to ensure that deadlines and commitments to the service are met.
- Promote and implement health and safety programs and processes for the workplace. Take corrective measures to address dangerous working conditions. Supervise employees' return to work and take adaptation measures.
- Supervise and mentor employees, providing advice and leadership to promote workplace respect. Administer human resources procedures and resolve personnel issues. Consult the Labour Relations group or union representatives regarding the application of the collective agreement. Create learning and knowledge transfer opportunities for the staff.
- Maintain optimal productivity levels by closely monitoring staffing and adjusting it according to workload. Assess workloads to ensure an adequate number of employees on duty. Recommend the use of overtime, if necessary, and authorize occasional overtime when an employee works alone.
- Regularly inspect the quality of all aspects of the concerned shift or section. Monitor the hourly throughput of mechanized processes and observe daily productivity for manual sorting. Investigate anomalies, resolve minor issues, and escalate major problems to a higher level.

- Analyze daily productivity reports to identify issues and trends. Share analyses and results with the team. Work to improve efficiency and implement best practices in productivity.
- Establish links with other sections within Operations to ensure the effective movement of mail and employees between sections.
- Manage employees' time and attendance to ensure they receive accurate and timely pay.
- Produce reports, resolve data-related issues, and perform other administrative tasks associated with the team leader role.
- Admissibility Criteria
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent provincial (FG) (equivalent work experience, as defined below, may be accepted).
Experience
- At least one year of experience in team management.
- OR
- At least two years of work experience in a unionized environment.
- Practical knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Other Requirements
Assets
- Post-secondary diploma.
- Experience related to distribution processes.
