Supervisor Project Coordinator

Under the supervision of the project coordination, the youth community worker plays a central role in supporting young people aged 14 to 25 from immigrant backgrounds. They provide individual support and act as a resource person for the young people, while also ensuring liaison with the community and youth partners in the territory.

The community worker organizes activities that promote social, cultural, and linguistic integration of the young people, and actively contributes to mobilizing the local network to strengthen the inclusion and participation of the young people in their community.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide personalized interventions to young people aged 14 to 25
  • Welcome, actively listen, and record the needs
  • Support in finding specialized services (training, sports teams, youth center, after-school activities, employment services, etc.)
  • Follow up with the young people to help them solve problems and encourage their perseverance in their activities and projects
  • Organize individual and group activities for the young people to promote their integration into Quebec, build connections with other young people, and offer opportunities to interact in French (recreational, sports, cultural, artistic, informational activities, etc.)
  • Organize individual and group information sessions on topics that concern the young people (sexism, bullying, alcohol and drug use, racism, sexual education, social media use, rights and laws, etc.)
  • Ensure liaison with the community and youth partners in the territory
  • Act as an intercultural intermediary with the family, friends, youth services, etc.
  • Inform and raise awareness among the community about the need to adapt services to the immigrant clientele
  • Promote the services of the ICI outside the organization

Organize activities and events

  • Prepare a quarterly programming of activities that respond to the needs of the young people
  • Plan, organize, and carry out sports, recreational, and educational activities

Project management, follow-ups, and reports

  • Enter data accurately to reflect the number of individual and group interventions
  • Write progress reports and the final report in accordance with the requirements of the funding agency
  • Ensure the opening and proper maintenance of the participant files
  • Participate in team meetings with the coordination

DESIRED PROFILE

  • University degree in social work, youth intervention, psychoeducation, or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with young people, preferably in an intercultural context
  • Examples of experience domains with young people: animation, intervention, social work, education, mentoring, employability
  • Desired experience in project management and organization of large-scale events
  • Enjoy working with a multicultural public
  • Enjoy working in contact with people and helping them
  • Enjoy interacting and communicating with others
  • Knowledge of the issues related to immigration, integration, and social inclusion of young people
  • Good listening, analytical, and teamwork skills
  • Autonomy, initiative, and creativity
  • Proficiency in French (oral and written); another language is an asset
  • Availability in the evenings and on weekends according to the activity schedule

Conditions

  • Salary according to the current salary grid: between $26.99 and $27.93
