Hiring Unit: Athletics \& Recreation

Position Summary

Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, the official scorer for varsity football will perform all of the listed general administration functions. These functions are of moderate complexity and the official scorer performs them using established instructions. The official scorer will be responsible to work both conference and exhibition games as well as any tournaments and playoffs.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES BEFORE KICKOFF

  • Work closely with the sports information office
  • Report for duty 2.5 hours BEFORE kickoff to collect a field pass and official lineups.
  • Perform administrative work dealing with the official dress list and depth charts for the head coaches, the referee and officials list, and filling out the official score sheet
  • Ensure signing of the official scoresheet by head coaches
  • DURING THE GAME
  • Work with the head statistician to complete the scoresheet after every scoring change.
  • Serve as a back-up spotter by writing down each play called out by the head statistician
  • AFTER THE GAME
  • Track down the head referee after the game to get his signature on the scoresheet
  • Return the scoresheet to the sports information office.

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities

  • Sport specific knowledge is required
  • Must be available for all at home games for the 2026 Football season
  • Must be punctual, organized, reliable and have the ability to multitask
  • Previous experience is an asset
  • Bilingualism is an asset
  • Must have good penmanship
