YOUR TEAM

We are looking for an Associate, Natural Resources Investments ("NR") for our investment team, who will actively participate in the development and oversight of the NR portfolio ($19.7 billion Canadian dollars under management as of March 31, 2026) through direct investments and strategic partnerships in the natural resources sector, with a focus on the mining sector. The associate will participate in the preliminary analysis of investment opportunities, financial analysis and modeling, sectoral analysis, due diligence transactional, and execution of transactions. They will be involved in the investment decision-making process, preparation of investment recommendation notes, post-investment follow-up activities, work with portfolio companies, and research on sectoral trends.

YOUR ROLE

As an Associate, Natural Resources Investments, you will be required to:

Perform investment analyses and execute transactions

  • Conduct preliminary analysis of investment opportunities, meet with potential partners and sectoral experts, and prepare summary reports
  • Conduct thorough due diligence on potential investments, identify key advantages and risks, meet with management teams, review documentation, and collaborate with external partners and consultants
  • Lead the development of detailed financial models, including conducting in-depth sensitivity analyses, reviewing financial projections and evaluation assumptions
  • Lead the preparation of investment recommendation memorandums for approval
  • Participate in presentations to various committees, as needed
  • Represent the NR team to the mining, forestry, agricultural, and investment sectors
  • Actively network with sectoral experts, consultants, peers, and industry players
  • Participate in conferences, organize meetings, and stay up-to-date on sectoral trends
  • Contribute to the development of the investment opportunity pipeline and become a specialized resource person

Actively manage investments

  • Monitor financial and operational results
  • Interact with management and operational partners
  • Work with portfolio company management teams on specific projects aimed at creating value
  • *Note: This position requires travel.*

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • University degree with an excellent academic record
  • Professional designation: CFA designation is an asset
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience in private investments, investment banking, consulting, corporate finance, equity research, or within a natural resources company
  • Experience and/or training in the mining sector, an important asset
  • Excellent financial and analytical skills
  • Project management skills and ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership and sound business judgment
  • Mature, engaged, motivated, and able to take initiative
  • Responsible, thorough, and able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Good attention to detail and ability to present information clearly
  • Knowledge and interest in the mining, forestry, and agricultural sectors
  • Advanced proficiency in business software and analytical tools
  • Good communication skills in English and French (or willingness to learn). *(regular interactions in English with investment partners based outside of Quebec Example: peers, bankers, brokerage firms, etc. and employees of PSP in our Hong Kong, London, and New York offices, and interactions in French with employees of our local Montreal and Ottawa offices)*
