Mandate

Under the responsibility of the head of service, in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team members, the educator participates in the implementation of the clinical process for the benefit of users who receive services from CCSMTL. In a user-partner approach, he promotes the autonomy of users, supports, encourages, guides, and assists them in their adaptation process, both personally and socially.

The educator immediately provides education and rehabilitation to users in institutional or external settings according to the intervention programs established in collaboration with the team of professionals in place, with the aim of the individual's rehabilitation and/or reintegration into society. He applies educational techniques using daily living activities, organizes, coordinates, and animates the activities planned in the program to ensure learning and the acquisition of appropriate attitudes and behaviors. He observes and analyzes the behavior of users, participates in the evaluation of their needs and abilities, and notes their progress by writing the appropriate documents. He provides the programming of his activities.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluate a user based on the situations of disability encountered through the evaluation tool "Process of producing disability"
  • Identify, in collaboration with the user and their family, the intervention objectives that will improve the person's situation by following the steps of the clinical process.
  • Coach the user and their environment on compensatory strategies, make adjustments to the user's environment, or work on parental or environmental skills to stabilize the situation and ultimately allow for the maintenance of their social integration or participation.
  • Work in an interdisciplinary manner with different professionals to better identify deficient capacities, objectives, and means to be implemented and apply the recommendations of the professionals.
  • Conduct group thematic interventions aimed at improving the capacities of users and a better understanding of their difficulties and the means of adaptation and readaptation recommended.
  • Participate and animate PSI to determine the services and their trajectory that can best meet the needs of the user and their family
  • Document the information related to clinical activities as prescribed by the establishment's file-keeping rules
  • Animate thematic information/coaching groups
  • Communicate information related to the particularities of people living with a disability or a serious behavioral disorder to partners
  • Advise partners on the tools to be implemented to ensure the proper functioning of the activities
  • Participate in the training of interns
  • Participate in other service or organizational projects

Requirements

  • CLASS 01:

Hold a college diploma (DEC) in specialized education techniques or intervention techniques in delinquency from a recognized school by the competent ministry. This class also includes individuals who hold a college certificate in specialized education techniques or institutional rehabilitation.

  • CLASS 02:

Hold a fourteen (14) years of general education diploma recognized by the competent ministry or a youth cadre educator certificate from exceptional childhood recognized by the Ministry of Health and Social Services and the competent ministry, and/or have completed fifty percent (50%) of the general course leading to the official diploma in institutional rehabilitation or specialized education (cegep course).

  • Other requirements:
  • Driver's license and car required as it is a home or community follow-up service
  • The schedule is Monday to Friday primarily during the day with the possibility of flexible work
  • The employee must be available at least once a week in the evening, no later than 8:00 PM
