What will you contribute to the team?
- Lead and develop a team of program managers responsible for new aircraft avionics development programs and avionics modifications for in-service aircraft platforms.
- Establish priorities, provide coaching, and support the professional development of team members while fostering a high-performance culture.
- Drive successful planning, execution, and delivery of avionics projects, ensuring adherence to scope, timelines, budget, and quality objectives.
- Manage a portfolio of product change requests (PCRs), modifications, upgrades, and customer initiatives for multiple aircraft programs.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams (engineering, certification, air operations, customer support, supply chain, production, finance) to achieve program objectives.
- Review and support the development of business cases, project prioritization, and investment decisions for avionics initiatives.
- Identify program risks, issues, dependencies, and opportunities, and drive mitigation and recovery plans with stakeholders.
- Escalate critical program concerns and ensure visibility of leadership on project performance, key milestones, and emerging risks.
- Ensure effective program governance, reporting, and reviews with senior leadership.
- Support the resolution of complex issues (technical, operational, or customer-related) affecting avionics projects and in-service aircraft.
- Track program costs, resource needs, and overall portfolio performance to achieve business objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement of tools, processes, metrics, and best practices in project management.
- Promote a customer-focused culture while balancing technical, operational, regulatory, and commercial requirements.
How will you thrive in this role?
- You hold a Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration, project management, or have an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- You have at least eight (8) years of experience in the aerospace, avionics, engineering, project management, or program management fields, including leadership responsibilities.
- You have in-depth knowledge of aeronautical systems and a strong understanding of avionics architecture, integration, certification, and lifecycle management.
- You have proven experience in managing complex projects or portfolios within a cross-functional environment.
- You are proficient in project management, planning, risk management, and portfolio governance.
- You are proficient in Microsoft Office applications and have strong data analysis and management skills.
- You possess excellent communication, leadership, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
- You are customer and results-oriented, and capable of effectively balancing competing priorities.
- You demonstrate strong problem-solving, negotiation, and influence skills, with the ability to align diverse stakeholder groups.
- You have a strong business sense and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- You are highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- A PMP certification or equivalent project management qualification would be an asset.
The position is part of a hybrid work model; candidates should ideally be located in the Toronto or Montreal area.
