How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

At Airgas / Air Liquide Canada, we are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace that values the diversity of our employees, customers, patients, community stakeholders, and cultures from around the world. Airgas / Air Liquide is hiring a Sales Development Representative

  • Location: Montreal (Quebec)
  • Hybrid work model

The incumbent is responsible for identifying and evaluating new business opportunities, and serves as the first point of contact for potential clients in the United States and Canada. This is a proactive, problem-solving role that requires a passion for understanding client activities and the ability to recommend high-value solutions from our extensive range of products in the areas of gas, welding, and safety.

Main Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify potential clients by tracking prospects generated by marketing activities through various channels, including but not limited to email campaigns, social media (LinkedIn), and active outreach, to build a strong pipeline of qualified business opportunities for regional account managers.
  • Qualify incoming and outgoing prospects by assessing their needs, budget, timeline, and decision-making power.
  • Identify government RFPs by actively searching for relevant RFPs on official government portals. Review the RFP: read the RFP documents, identify those that use products sold by Airgas. Provide a summary of the RFP to the regional leadership team. Collaborate with the team to ensure the submission is made on time.
  • Conduct research on target accounts and key contacts to understand their operational challenges and safety requirements.
  • Identify key decision-makers, influencers, and stakeholders within target organizations.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, competitor activities, and market developments to effectively adapt your prospecting and outreach efforts.
  • Act as the first trusted advisor, using active listening to understand clients' challenges.
  • Clearly articulate the company's value proposition, adapting our products, services, and safety programs to the specific needs of the potential client.
  • Recommend tailored solutions, including gas and equipment, VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory) for safety supplies, or comprehensive training programs.
  • Track all activities, communications, and data related to potential clients in Salesforce, to ensure a clear and accurate pipeline.
  • Collaborate closely with sales and marketing teams to ensure a smooth transfer of qualified prospects and provide feedback on the quality of these prospects.
  • Are you a MATCH?

Required Qualifications

  • College diploma in business, communications, or engineering AND at least one year of experience in a B2B environment as an internal sales specialist, business development specialist, or industrial safety specialist within manufacturing, construction, or other industrial companies;
  • OR three to five years of experience in selling to manufacturing, construction, or other industrial companies (technical studies certificates are an asset).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a professional and confident telephone presence. The person must speak both French and English fluently.

Bilingualism (English and French) is required to effectively conduct business development activities across all regions of Canada.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience using Salesforce and Google Suite is an asset.
  • Sharp organizational skills, self-motivation, resilience, and a strong work ethic, as well as the ability to handle rejection.
  • Curious and analytical mindset, with a genuine interest in understanding the challenges clients face.
  • Experience in the industrial gas, welding, or workplace safety (PPE) sector is a significant asset.
  • Basic knowledge of welding processes, gas applications, or industrial safety regulations is an asset.
  • Our differences drive our performance

At Air Liquide, we are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace that embraces the diversity of our employees, customers, patients, community stakeholders, and cultures around the world.

We welcome and consider applications from all qualified candidates, regardless of their background. We strongly believe that a diverse organization opens up opportunities for people to express their talent, both individually and collectively, and contributes to fostering our ability to innovate by living our fundamentals, acting for our success, and creating an engaging environment in a rapidly changing world.
