The Avionics office in Marie-Curie, Montreal is Thales Group's Centre of Competence for business and regional jet flight control systems, located at our Montreal - Marie Curie office. The team designs and integrates avionics suites, fly-by-wire flight control systems, SATCOM systems, and other innovative concepts for the regional and business aircraft markets.
Junior PMO FLX Montreal *Montreal, QC (Hybrid) Full-time*
Attached to the FLX Business Line and integrated into the PMO management, the holder of the Junior PMO Montreal position is responsible for supporting and driving the support for all projects in Canada, as well as providing direct operational support to the various strategic offers and projects managed by Thales in Montreal.
The position plays a key role in structuring, coordinating, and tracking project activities, financial management, as well as maintaining budget, planning, and performance tracking dashboards.
The holder fully participates in the structuring of new projects launched in Canada and ensures the best performance of deliverables, budget consistency, and adherence to deadlines and reporting obligations, in a multipartner and international context.
The Junior PMO Montreal is directly attached to the FLX PMO manager, interfaces with the Finance teams, the Engineering Canada department, project managers, as well as the partners and stakeholders of the projects.
The Junior PMO Montreal intervenes on a complex, multi-project perimeter, with frequent interactions between the Montreal teams, the central France management, major aircraft OEMs, and Canadian funding agencies. The projects followed integrate strong compliance and justification issues vis-à-vis public partners, as well as competitiveness and innovation challenges on responses to structuring calls for tenders for the growth of Thales Canada.
Essential Functions
Support for Bids & Projects
- Provide expertise and know-how to bids and projects for better performance throughout the bid/project lifecycle through harmonized services
- Ensure the validity of bid/project data, including supervision
- Collect bid/project information and consolidate it into a dashboard for monthly reviews
- Participate in the preparation of responses to calls for tenders (Bids)
- Support the implementation of new project activities in Canada
- Intervene as backup on the administration of project management tools (Primavera, Deviprop, etc...)
- Track internal orders (PO IGTR), ensure signature validation, and follow up on invoicing in coordination with Finance
- Improve and maintain fundamental practices in bid and project management (PPE):
- Ensure the continuity of bids to projects
- Keep pace with the milestones of bids and projects
- Challenge and maintain the schedule (adjusted to the project) and the quality of the reference deliverables
- Develop, centralize, and share know-how between bids and projects through good practices and recommendations
- Collect lessons learned, manage the process for the analysis of lessons learned, and share them transversally for the benefit of future bids and projects
Specific Support for Canada R&D Projects
- Provide operational support for the extraction and justification of expenses to be claimed
- Coordinate the collection and validation of justifications with the Engineering department managers and the Canada R&D manager
- Assist in budget management, claims, and government payment tracking
- Maintain and update R&D tracking dashboards (quarterly reviews)
Transversal Tracking and Piloting
- Track and update schedules (Primavera, MSP, Timeline Pro)
- Ensure the tracking of milestones and the completeness of reports
- Gather and consolidate key performance indicators for the portfolio (KPI, EVM...)
- Organize the presentation of lessons learned and coordinate the follow-up of associated actions
- Implement and follow up on the non-technical requirement matrix to ensure customer compliance
- Align the needs of S&OP charges with the resources on bids/projects
The holder of the position directly influences the performance of projects within their perimeter (budgetary piloting, milestone adherence, deliverable quality), contributes to the securing of public funding, the optimization of reporting for local and group management, while promoting the structuring and maturity of the project organization in Montreal.
In close collaboration with the Finance team, project managers, Engineering managers, and other FLX PMOs, the holder demonstrates leadership in the implementation and tracking of project procedures and indicators. They also manage relationships with external funding agencies and industrial clients in a context of increased confidentiality and requirements.
The position requires adaptability, rigor, and a strong sense of proposal to continuously improve piloting tools, reporting, KPI tracking, and to respond to the diversity of client/governmental requirements. It is about anticipating needs, structuring information, and daring to propose new analysis axes to increase project efficiency.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in project management or technical fields
- Confirmed experience (3 to 5 years minimum) in PMO or complex project piloting, ideally in the industry (aerospace, defense, tech) and in an international environment.
- Solid knowledge of budget management, project planning and reporting tools (Primavera, MSP, advanced Excel)
- Experience with public funding/projects R&D
- Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams, interpersonal skills, and diplomacy
- Organization, reactivity, ability to work transversally
- Project planning tools: MS Project and Primavera P6 Pro
- Excel proficiency, an asset if you have Visual Basic macro skills
- Bid generation tool (Deviprop)
- French and English proficiency required (written and spoken)

Desired Qualifications
- Experience in an international context, knowledge of Thales and the aircraft ecosystem appreciated.
