Reporting to the Director, Product Development and Management within Technology Solutions – Software Engineering, the Principal Analyst Developer plays a key role in the design, development, and evolution of an event-driven microservices-based platform. The incumbent acts as a technical reference for the team, delivers high-quality features, and actively contributes to the evolution of development practices, particularly in AI-assisted tooling.
Specific Responsibilities
Design and Development – Modern Stack (Primary Responsibility)
- Design, develop, and deliver robust features within an event-driven microservices architecture (Kafka, Kubernetes, Docker).
- Develop high-performance backend services in C#/.NET within a cloud environment (Azure).
- Design and maintain relational (PostgreSQL, SQL Server) and non-relational (MongoDB) data schemas.
- Ensure the integration of services and components into existing and new systems.
Legacy Platform Maintenance (Secondary Responsibility)
- Periodically contribute to the maintenance, bug fixing, and stabilization of existing applications (.NET, C#, VB.NET, WinForms, DevExpress, SQL Server).
- Participate in targeted modernization efforts of the legacy application portfolio in collaboration with the team.
Architecture and Standards
- Propose and implement architecture decisions aligned with the team's event-driven microservices vision.
- Define and enforce development, quality, and code security standards.
- Proactively identify technical risks and propose preventive solutions.
- Contribute to the evolution of the platform's architecture to ensure its longevity and scalability.
Technical Leadership and Collaboration
- Serve as a reference and mentor for less experienced developers on the team.
- Actively participate in code reviews and contribute to collective quality improvement.
- Collaborate closely with product team members, architects, and other development teams.
- Contribute to effort estimation and iteration planning.
- Effectively communicate technical issues to non-technical stakeholders as needed.
Quality and Operations
- Write and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
- Monitor, document, and resolve performance and reliability issues.
- Participate in post-mortem reviews and propose continuous improvements.
Essential
- Advanced proficiency in C#/.NET (modern) and SQL.
- Solid experience with microservices architectures and event-driven systems (Kafka).
- Experience with RESTful APIs.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems.
- Practical experience with Docker and Kubernetes in a production environment.
- Experience with relational (PostgreSQL, SQL Server) and non-relational (MongoDB) databases.
- Experience with versioning tools and CI/CD (GitHub, Azure DevOps, or equivalents).
- Ability to work autonomously on complex problems without direct supervision.
- Strong problem-solving and change anticipation skills.
Significant Assets
- Knowledge and interest in AI agents, smart workflows, and MCP (Model Context Protocol) ecosystems, skills, and agent orchestration.
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, coding agents, etc.).
- Experience with VB.NET, WinForms, or DevExpress (legacy platform).
- Knowledge of Microsoft Azure.
- Experience in test automation and QA practices.
- Bilingual (French and English).
Education and Experience
- Technical college diploma or bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of experience in a similar software development role.
- According to Career Framework criteria, the P4 level typically requires a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience or equivalent.
The incumbent of this position will provide daily support to internal and/or external clients outside Quebec and/or in the United States. Therefore, he/she must be proficient in spoken and written English. Please note that the number of positions requiring English language skills has been limited where possible.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position $94,400 – $157,300
