Fleet Deployment Coordinator

You will be responsible for coordinating the deployment of equipment across QSL's maritime terminal network. You will optimize the movement of mobile equipment based on operational demands, maintenance, and repair schedules.

You will play an advisory role to operational managers in the terminals regarding the most appropriate equipment options based on their operational needs, equipment capabilities, and usage costs, as well as their availability in the network and from equipment rental providers.

In collaboration with the procurement service, you will be involved in the equipment acquisition processes.

Thanks to your mechanical knowledge, you will occasionally be called upon to replace the maintenance planner, mobile equipment maintenance, and asset management during vacations and absences.

On a daily basis, you will have to

  • Coordinate the deployment of mobile equipment across the company's network;
  • Consolidate asset transfer requests from internal sources;
  • Collaborate with carriers and ports;
  • Maintain an up-to-date schedule of mobile equipment fleet movements;
  • Keep an eye out for cost reduction opportunities by combining trips;
  • Support operations in meeting specific mobile equipment needs;
  • Stay informed about new developments and changes in the market;
  • Utilize your skills in various special projects and continuous improvement initiatives;
  • Prepare purchase quotes.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in heavy machinery studies or college diploma in mechanics;
  • 10 years of relevant experience;
  • Project management skills with a results-oriented approach;
  • Customer service sense for internal and external collaborations;
  • Adaptability and problem-solving skills;
  • Knowledge of road transportation regulations;
  • Knowledge of GMAO software and Office Suite;
  • Ability to travel for some assignments (occasional);
  • Excellent communication skills in French and English, both oral and written*.
  • Bilingualism (French and English) is required for this position as it involves interactions with internal and external stakeholders outside Quebec, distributed across our entire North American network and internationally.
