Overview
The Airports team, part of AtkinsRéalis' Engineering Services group, specializes in providing a full range of planning and engineering services for airport and heliport infrastructure projects to local, national, and international clients. Projects range from small missions, such as runway extension and traffic area expansion studies, to master planning for airports and runway and infrastructure rehabilitation projects.
This position is based at our office in the city of Quebec. The airport team is currently operating under a hybrid work model, with teams splitting their work week between home and the office.
Your Role
- Act as project lead and/or in the civil discipline for the design, project management, and administration of contracts for aerodrome infrastructure projects for private, regional, and international airports. Specific tasks include geometric and structural design of new runways, taxiways, traffic areas, runway-side service roads, runway-side commercial developments, including site development, grading, earthworks, and stormwater management. Coordination with other disciplines, as required.
- Develop and oversee the preparation of design specifications, cost estimates, and tender documents for aerodrome projects. Perform quality control and assurance reviews, and stamp and seal engineering documents.
- Provide engineering services during construction activities by reviewing shop drawings to verify compliance with specifications; prepare progress reports defining the status of construction.
- Assist and supervise the preparation of figures, design drawings, specifications, calculations, life-cycle cost analyses, cost estimates, quantity take-offs, technical reports, design presentations, etc.
- Perform site inspections of construction, as required. Although the position is primarily office-based, regular travel within Canada for varying durations is expected during the summer months.
- Mentor junior staff.
About You
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
- OIQ member with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
- CAPM certification from the PMI Institute.
- Knowledge and experience with FAA, ICAO, and Transport Canada standards, TP-312 and Annex 14, among others.
- Ability to organize and lead projects, including the preparation of professional service proposals.
- Proven ability to solve problems, including analyzing problems and possible solutions, planning corrective measures, including cost estimates and examining alternative solutions, and demonstrating creativity when a new design is required.
- Ability to work in a team and maintain excellent relationships with team members and clients.
- Practical knowledge of software and web applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project Schedule), AutoCAD, Civil3D, AviPlan, aircraft modeling software, FAARFEILD, PAVER.
- Proficiency in French is a requirement for this position, with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in English is also an asset.
