Senior Manager, Wealth Planning and Business Owner Specialist

The Family Office Management Services are looking to add to their Quebec team a specialist in Wealth Planning, High Net Worth Clients and Business Owners. As a member of the Wealth Planning team, you will be part of a diverse group of lawyers, accountants and highly qualified senior business valuation experts. Your role will consist of collaborating with our advisors to provide RBC's ultra-high net worth and high net worth clients with personalized tax and succession planning, business succession planning and wealth planning advice.

Responsibilities

Provide advice on tax, succession, fiduciary and business succession planning strategies, and formulate planning recommendations for RBC Wealth Management - Canada's individual and business clients. Apply in-depth and extensive knowledge and skills during meetings with ultra-high net worth and high net worth clients to:

  • Conduct in-depth information gathering and exploratory approach to understand the clients' family and business situations, including their financial statements, trust agreements and existing legal agreements.
  • Assess the clients' current situation in relation to their short and long-term goals to develop strategies and solutions that will help them achieve their family and business succession and wealth planning goals.
  • Propose to clients advice and strategies to address gaps and mitigate risks in wealth planning; present solutions in collaboration with their RBC wealth management advisor.
  • Ensure the delivery of business owner planning, tax and succession planning, business succession planning and philanthropic planning services.
  • If necessary, collaborate with other RBC planning specialists (financial planning specialists, advisory experts, Testaments and Successions, insurance specialists, Mergers and Acquisitions group, Intermediate Market).
  • Establish strong internal and external referral networks of influential people (lawyers, accountants, etc.).
  • Provide clients with a printed summary of the agreed strategies that can be given to their accountant or lawyer to facilitate the implementation of the recommendations; be ready to meet with clients' external advisors as needed.
  • Key Success Factors

Requirements

  • University degree and professional designation (CPA, LL.B., J.D. or EEE).
  • Twelve years or more of relevant experience, and expertise in personal and business tax planning, succession planning and business succession planning.
  • Mastery of strategies, issues and trends in private wealth management.
  • Strong interpersonal relationship skills, flexibility and empathy, autonomy and ability to work effectively in various situations.
  • Ability to communicate complex planning information.
  • Proficiency in French and English.

Assets

  • Success in CPA Canada's Basic Tax Program, or equivalent.
  • Family Business Advisor designation or Family Business and Family Wealth Advisory certifications from FFI GEN.
  • Knowledge of cross-border planning services.
