Your main challenges

The person holding the position ensures the application and compliance with laws, codes, and regulations regarding the construction, expansion, renovation of a building, or within the framework of subsidy programs.

1. Receives and analyzes requests for construction permits and authorization certificates; issues, if applicable, the permits and authorization certificates; intervenes with professionals involved in construction to ensure projects and constructions comply with applicable codes and regulations; 2. Prepares files related to requests for amendments to zoning regulations and others; 3. Ensures compliance with laws, codes, and regulations related to buildings, the environment, septic systems, land use, sanitation, or others; conducts necessary inspections; handles complaint files; issues reports, opinions, and violation notices; ensures corrections are made and assists the legal affairs and registry service in preparing files for court; 4. Responds to inquiries regarding development planning, urban planning regulations, related laws and regulations, restoration projects, and modifications needed to make a project compliant; 5. Inspects properties and ongoing work on construction sites in accordance with regulations, laws, and approved codes; issues an occupancy certificate at the end of construction; 6. Prepares files related to home and/or commercial, service, etc., renovation subsidy programs in compliance with the norms and regulations of these programs; determines on estimate the work to be executed, studies the submitted proposals and recommends their acceptance or refusal; conducts necessary inspections.

Requirements

• DEC in architectural technology
• DEC in urban planning and development techniques
• 2 years of relevant experience
• General safety course on construction sites. Commit to obtaining it within a reasonable timeframe.
• Valid Class 5 driver's license

Required skills and abilities

• Good knowledge of the main types of building construction and the methods and materials used.
• Ability to interpret plans and specifications and compare them with ongoing projects.
• Ability to estimate schedules, materials, and costs required for construction and repair work.
• Ability to maintain effective relationships with owners, construction professionals, and the general public.
