We are currently looking for qualified individuals to fill positions as plumber or pipefitter for water and sewer networks at the Public Works Service .
THE CHALLENGES
As a plumber or pipefitter for water and sewer networks, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining the structures, pipes, and accessories of the local and main water and sewer networks of the municipality.
Your Main Tasks Will Be To
- Coordinate work, guide your team members, and ensure the completion of tasks while maintaining a safe work environment;
- Participate in various related tasks and all the steps required for the mentioned activities (e.g., backfilling, compaction, cleaning, etc.);
- Participate in various technical projects and water and sewer projects carried out by the City;
- Monitor projects, corrective measures, and the accident reporting process, and support clients in the resulting actions.
You will also have access to internal training that will allow you to obtain qualifications to contribute to other activities ensured by the service, including snow removal work.
To Join Our Team, You Must
- Hold a high school diploma and some relevant experience (e.g., underground drainage operator, first-layer installer, etc.). Any other set of training and experience deemed equivalent may be considered;
- Hold or be able to obtain a water system operator certificate (OPA) (or formerly P6B);
- Possess a valid Class 5 driver's license and have started the process with SAAQ to obtain the Class 3 license, which is required within four (4) months following the start date;
- Hold the "Health and Safety General on Construction Sites" card;
- Commit to working safely at all times;
- Possess the appropriate personal qualities such as politeness, diplomacy, and courtesy.

- An hourly wage of $36.99 (2025 scale) and $38.84 (2026 scale);
- A regular workweek of 40 hours, Monday to Friday. (The position requires availability to work overtime outside regular working hours, as needed for breaks in the water and sewer network or to carry out various work. Additionally, operational needs may require you to work occasionally on special schedules, such as night work for snow removal.);

The vacant positions are located at 3494 Airport Road (at the Airport Garage). Other positions may also be offered in garages located throughout the City of Quebec.
