Build, grow, and manage relationships with a portfolio of small business clients to create new business opportunities and increase BMO's market share. Apply professional sales and business expansion practices and techniques for a territory or assigned portfolio. Actively identify opportunities and recommend them to colleagues, if necessary.

  • Develop and implement proactive sales strategies to attract new business clients and expand existing relationships.
  • Build internal and external networks and referral sources to ensure continuous growth of BMO.
  • Generate appointments and business opportunities through targeted sales efforts.
  • Develop, maintain, and implement a business plan, including relationship management strategies, to achieve customer loyalty goals.
  • Identify potential clients and sell additional products and services to meet their needs.
  • Build a connection with clients and inspire trust to establish credibility and gain client trust as their Relationship Manager.
  • Understand the local market and proactively develop relationships with centers of influence.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and build trust through expertise and tailored service and support.
  • Establish and maintain long-term profitable relationships and increase our portfolio share within the assigned portfolio.
  • Respond to inquiries and provide accurate information on bank products and services for businesses.
  • Understand client needs and offer financial solutions that meet their goals.
  • Resolve issues or escalate them to the appropriate level.
  • Develop solutions and make recommendations based on an understanding of business strategy and stakeholder needs.
  • Advise and guide the assigned business sector or group on implementing solutions.
  • Develop, maintain, and implement a business plan, including relationship management strategies, to achieve customer loyalty goals.
  • Break down strategic issues and analyze data and information to provide ideas and recommendations.
  • Monitor and track performance and address issues.
  • Coordinate database management and ensure data harmonization and integration in accordance with data governance standards.
  • Develop change management plans of various types and scopes; lead various change management activities or participate in them, including assessing readiness, planning, stakeholder management, implementation, evaluation, and maintenance of initiatives.
  • Provide feedback on the planning and implementation of operational programs.
  • Perform tasks to provide timely, precise, and efficient services.
  • Support the development and promotion of a business sector or group's program.
  • Follow security and protection procedures and exercise reasonable diligence in accordance with the Bank's policies and ethical standards to prevent losses due to fraud, theft, counterfeiting, money laundering, or embezzlement.
  • Protect client and Bank information confidentiality in accordance with BMO's policies and procedures.
  • Identify risks and take appropriate measures, including all regulatory requirements, such as documentation, to ensure operational integrity.
  • Focus primarily on a business sector or group within BMO; adopt a broader organizational orientation as needed.
  • Exercise judgment to identify issues, determine their causes, and resolve them within established limits.
  • Work independently on a wide range of complex tasks, which may represent unique situations.
  • Broader tasks and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
  • Take measured risks while protecting the Bank by applying our risk management framework in the performance of your duties, in accordance with our risk management culture and approved risk appetite, making informed risk-based decisions that align with business strategy, protect assets, and comply with applicable policy documents (frameworks, policies, standards, procedures, and related documents), laws, and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Generally four to six years of relevant professional experience with a post-secondary degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong financial analysis skills and demonstrated ability to interpret financial statements, assess solvency, and provide concrete information to stimulate business growth and mitigate risks.
  • Solid knowledge of bank products and services for businesses, loan approval processes, and loan documentation, as well as related policies, procedures, and technologies.
  • Strong experience in sales and customer service.
  • Technical skills acquired through education or work experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong influence skills.
  • Strong data-driven decision-making skills.

The above represents the range and type of compensation offered by BMO Financial Group.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the position and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time positions will be calculated on a prorated basis of the number of regularly worked hours. For commission-based roles, the aforementioned salary represents BMO Financial Group's target for the first year in the position.

The total compensation offered by BMO will vary depending on the type of compensation associated with the position and may include performance bonuses, discretionary bonuses, as well as other benefits and rewards.
