We are seeking a detail-oriented Tax Analyst (e) to support the company's recurring compliance and fiscal reporting activities on monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing cycles. The role will coordinate the preparation, collection of supporting documents, filings, and data entry into systems, ensure liaison with internal stakeholders and external advisors, and contribute to maintaining accurate and timely tax filings using the company's tax systems. This position is ideal for a candidate with strong technical knowledge in taxation, excellent organizational skills, and a demonstrated ability to manage recurring deliverables and ad-hoc requests.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute recurring tax compliance tasks on monthly, quarterly, and year-end cycles, ensuring deadlines are met and filings are accurate.
- Prepare and maintain tax calendars and work files required for corporate tax filings and other periodic filings.
- Track task deadlines: establish and update start dates, due dates, and frequency for each recurring filing or submission.
- Identify, request, and collect source information from operational units and other internal stakeholders: specify required documents, resource names, and email addresses; follow up to ensure timely transmission.
- Perform filing activities using established methods (electronic portal, electronic filing, paper submission) and ensure confirmations/receipts are obtained and archived.
- Reconcile filings with accounting entries and contribute to journal entries related to tax liabilities and tax payments.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing requested documentation, answering questions, and maintaining organized tax files and correspondence.
Qualifications and Experience
- Advanced degree in accounting, finance, taxation, or a related field.
- 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in corporate tax services, accounting firms, or tax advisory roles (adjustable based on hiring level).
- Knowledge of recurring tax processes for monthly, quarterly, and annual filings (income tax, GST/HST/VAT, sales tax, withholding tax, regulatory filings).
- Practical experience with tax compliance software and general accounting systems (experience with common tax platforms, ERP systems, or filing portals is an asset).
- Strong advanced Excel skills; experience in data extraction, reconciliation, and analysis.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines, tasks, and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to write clear information requests and follow-up messages to internal and external contacts.
- Sharp attention to detail, high level of accuracy, and good judgment.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
- Language: English and French (bilingual)
