Description

Under the authority of the Director of Operations, the incumbent will play an important role within the team in export control. He will also be heavily involved in customs management, regulatory monitoring, and continuous process improvement.

Specifically, the candidate will need to: 1. Ensure compliance with export control regulations in the United States (ITAR and EAR) and Canada (EXCOL); 2. Validate and recommend the classification (ECCN) of manufactured products; 3. Complete Canadian and American export license applications; 4. Act as a liaison with the Canadian government and submit annual reports; 5. Annually update internal procedures and train users; 6. Analyze and approve imports handled by the customs broker; 7. Ensure product compliance with the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP); 8. Propose solutions to reduce import and export tariffs; 9. Manage ATA carnet for demo units and train the sales team on their use; 10. Monitor legislative and regulatory developments in relevant areas, including export control (ITAR, EAR, SBDU, CAD), industrial security (NATO Secret), health and safety (Quebec), French language law (Quebec), privacy in Canada and the United States, cybersecurity, human resources (HR), and insurance, and ensure the company complies with these regulations; 11. Participate in the development of purchasing policies, policies, and quality standards regarding the packaging of finished products, processes, forms, and work instructions, ensuring their implementation;

We are particularly seeking candidates who are passionate, demonstrate professional maturity, confidence, and marked leadership, while being able to work in a team and collaborate. The chosen candidate must possess the ability to quickly establish a strong trust relationship with various stakeholders (clients, suppliers, distributors, colleagues, etc.). Additionally, they must demonstrate the ability to work autonomously while maintaining team synergy. They must also show openness, a strong sense of responsibility, organization, resourcefulness, and diligence.

Other criteria are also required: 1. A university degree in a relevant discipline or a college diploma in logistics and transport or international trade, accompanied by extensive relevant experience; 2. A minimum of 15 years in a similar technical role; 3. Good knowledge of Canadian and American regulations related to the export control of dual-use goods; 4. Experience in customs compliance, primarily in Canada and the United States; 5. Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and a management software (ERP); 6. Knowledge of SAP Business One will be considered an asset; 7. Be eligible for a Canadian government security clearance (Secret level); 8. Bilingualism - French & English (10/10) - Oral/Written.
