Coordinator – Agriculture Conservation Consultation

Job Details: New full-time contract position until September 30, 2027

Salary Scale: Starting at $67,100 based on a 35-hour work week and will be proportional to individual education and experience regarding this position.

What You Will Do

As a Coordinator – Agriculture Conservation Consultation, you will ensure the national coordination of the project "Towards a Strategic Convergence between Agriculture and Conservation in Quebec". Administratively attached to CIC, you will work under the direction of the Agriculture-Conservation Steering Committee and in close collaboration with UPA, conservation organizations, MELCCFP, MAPAQ, and regional actors. Your mandate: organize the process, facilitate exchanges, document findings, and deliver concrete recommendations for the next steps.

The main responsibilities include, among others, the following, without being limited to:

• Coordinate the Steering Committee... follow-up meetings with MELCCFP and MAPAQ, as well as technical committees when needed.
• Develop and maintain a detailed work plan: governance, roles and responsibilities, schedule, deliverables, validation modalities, and decision-making follow-ups.
• Organize and facilitate a consultation tour in four priority regions, including mobilizing UPA regional federations, agricultural producers, conservation organizations, MRCs, municipalities, OBVs, CREs, ministerial representatives, and relevant experts.
• Document regional realities, agricultural concerns, conservation or restoration opportunities, convergence zones, success conditions, and pilot project ideas.
• Clarify the mandate related to the methodological criteria of a common mapping and coordinate the work of the consultant and experts to integrate agricultural, ecological, hydrological, territorial, regulatory, and governmental dimensions.
• Write the production of reports, regional summaries, preliminary reports, coordination reports, final recommendations, action plan, final report, and accountability elements.
• Ensure the follow-up of schedules, budgets, deliverables, risks, document quality, and requirements stipulated in the grant agreement, including public visibility obligations.
• Create a climate of trust, facilitate consensus decision-making, and support a credible, neutral, and results-oriented approach applicable on the ground.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in coordinating complex projects, consultation, stakeholder mobilization, environment, agriculture, territorial planning, or regional development.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field: environment, agronomy, geography, territorial planning, social sciences, public administration, project management, or related discipline. A master's degree is an asset.
• Good understanding of Quebec's agricultural realities, conservation, restoration, wetland and hydrological, biodiversity, water management, or ecological connectivity issues.
• Demonstrated experience in facilitating multiparty meetings, facilitation, synthesis of divergent positions, and search for convergence zones.
• Excellent project management skills: planning, prioritization, rigor, schedule adherence, budget tracking, and accountability.
• Strong ability to build trust with diverse partners, including agricultural producers, conservation organizations, municipal authorities, ministries, and technical experts.
• Professional judgment, autonomy, neutrality, political sense, emotional intelligence, and ability to navigate sensitive issues.
• Availability for occasional travel to different regions of Quebec.

Asset

• Knowledge of mapping tools, territorial prioritization, or geospatial data: an asset.
• Excellent French spoken and written; ability to produce clear, structured, and high-quality documents. English is an asset.
