We are looking for a highly motivated, dynamic, and ambitious person who wants to learn and advance their career at Air Canada. The Finance Analyst will work in collaboration with Air Canada's Commercial Affairs department to support the achievement of operational objectives and the efforts to maintain the company's long-term profitability. The person holding this position reports to the Commercial – Finance – Commercial Affairs partner.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that effective financial management methods, systems, and controls are developed, implemented, and maintained in accordance with policies and requirements.
  • Assist the Commercial – Finance partner in supporting Air Canada Media, Leasing – Business, Sports Teams, and Travel Management units in the continuous management of their business activities.
  • Ensure that effective financial management, processes, and systems, as well as controls, are maintained in accordance with policies and requirements (month-end charges and explanations, intercompany operations, perspectives, budgets, balance sheet reconciliations, profitability analyses, and contract negotiations).
  • Establish good relationships with Air Canada business units to "be part of the team" by effectively balancing financial control, consulting, and support functions.
  • Actively participate in the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing process and produce compelling key performance indicators and reports to improve expense and budget management.
  • Support the Company in addressing billing and payment issues by resolving problems or escalating them to the appropriate people-resources within the company.
  • Provide financial support and advice to business unit heads to develop strategies and initiatives to achieve or exceed the unit's financial objectives, including revenue growth and cost compression initiatives.
  • Conduct cost and value comparisons for new projects and contracts using internal and external data to continuously improve the unit's financial performance.
  • Ensure a high and consistent level of quality in the services provided in terms of speed of execution, accuracy, and user-friendliness.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of SAP financial transactions: provide guidance on the impact that accounting should have on the direction's transactions and collaborate with the Finance and Audits team to identify, report, and evaluate financial inaccuracies.

Qualifications

  • Proven punctuality and reliability to foster the team's overall success in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting.
  • Professional Accountant (CPA) designation obtained, or in the process of obtaining, an asset.
  • Autonomy, dynamism, strong initiative, and creativity.
  • Solid analytical mindset.
  • Knowledge of financial analysis techniques and the accounting cycle.
  • Knowledge of the operation of a company or airline carrier, or experience in this field, an asset.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and proficiency in learning to use financial applications and software.
  • Results-oriented attitude with good organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Proven punctuality and reliability to foster the team's overall success in a fast-paced environment.
  • Employment Conditions:

Candidates must be admissible to work in the country at the time an employment offer is made and are responsible for obtaining the necessary work permits, visas, or other authorizations. Proof of admissibility must be provided before the start date.
