Ready to build your career? We want to meet you!
As a Project Director within the Civil & Infrastructure division of Pomerleau, you will play a key role at the heart of the Deep Foundations business unit. You will contribute to the growth of the organization by building high-performing teams, valuing innovation, and fostering trust at all levels of the company. Your role will be essential in our ambitious initiatives to achieve and exceed project goals, execution, and workforce management. With your strong expertise in project management and delivery, you will bring a strategic vision and recognized professionalism to every client interaction. By managing large-scale construction and infrastructure projects — ranging from $1.5 million to over $1 billion — you will excel in managing complex, multi-phase projects while maintaining exemplary operational rigor. Your collaborative, solution-oriented mindset will inspire teams and ensure precise execution of every project. By collaborating with cross-functional teams, architects, engineers, contractors, and clients, you will ensure flawless execution of all projects. As a trusted leader and advisor, you will place goals, people, and communication at the heart of your priorities — redefining the construction process from concept to completion.
What you will do
- Develop and proactively maintain strong relationships with team members, partners, consultants, and clients to achieve project goals and vision.
- Support project management teams in developing and managing the construction schedule, ensuring completion dates and milestones are met or exceeded.
- Leverage your problem-solving skills to recommend innovative methods that enhance efficiency and ensure project excellence and productivity.
- Use your proactive approach to ensure compliance with our first-class quality program.
- Utilize your experience in selecting professional partners and coordinating their activities.
- Apply your financial management experience to plan, manage, and adhere to project budgets, costs, and associated purchases.
- Serve as both a mentor and role model for your project team, providing guidance and support to help them advance in their careers.
- Act as an expert in risk management, ensuring all project-related risks are minimized.
- Be proud to compile and complete enterprise-wide project reports for executive teams and client groups.
- Demonstrate leadership in health, safety, and environmental protection within the project framework. Effectively apply project-specific safety requirements to promote Pomerleau's health, safety, and environmental protection standards, as well as applicable workplace health and safety laws, regulations, and codes for all project employees and partners.
- This position is for you if you have:
- 8 to 10 years of experience on large-scale construction projects.
- A university degree in engineering or a related field.
- A keen sense of business and knowledge of project management methodologies, financial management, Canadian building codes, and associated legislation.
- Professional experience in the construction sector with a strong understanding of project methodologies, financial management, as well as building codes and associated legislation.
- Proven experience in team leadership and a talent for coaching and mentoring.
- A strong ability to effectively influence others and successfully resolve a variety of client, project, and technical issues.
- Previous experience with scheduling software.
