Industrial Mechanical Engineer

Your Role

• Determine the specific needs of the projects with the client, establish the scope of the work, and identify the steps and deadlines for completion.
• Provide engineering services regarding the conceptualization of industrial mechanical equipment such as conveyors, material handling systems, and equipment with various functionalities.
• Perform capacity and pace calculations related to project needs.
• Develop technical specifications for the conceptualized equipment.
• Validate compliance with applicable standards and validate compliance of specifications and other documents produced by suppliers.
• Perform cost estimation for manufacturing through supplier solicitation.
• Coordinate between different stakeholders (other disciplines, clients, suppliers, etc.).
• Provide technical support during equipment installations.
• Mentor your team's engineers and support their development.
• Effectively delegate work to junior staff while ensuring the quality of their work.
• Establish and maintain a favorable climate for the application of ethical and professional practices in engineering work.
• Perform any other relevant tasks deemed appropriate for the position.

About You

• Hold a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
• More than 10 years of relevant experience in industrial mechanical, focused on the knowledge (both design and selection) of industrial mechanical equipment; experience in engineering consulting would be considered an asset.
• Be a member in good standing of the Order of Engineers of Quebec.
• Recognized experience in manufacturing line projects using automated mechanical equipment.
• Experience with the utilities generally required for connecting industrial mechanical production equipment.
• *In more detail:*

+ Good knowledge of motorized equipment with gearboxes such as roller and belt conveyors. Ability to perform calculations for motor and gearbox selection.

+ Knowledge of ball and belt linear axis systems.

+ Good knowledge of the use and sizing of pneumatic components in industrial mechanical equipment (valve, cylinder, FRL, ...).

+ Familiarity with the safety of equipment according to CSA Z432 standard.

• Demonstrate a high level of autonomy and act as a resource person in industrial mechanical.
• Possess good knowledge of the industrial environment.
• Be recognized for your mobilizing leadership, your ability to maintain excellent interpersonal relationships both with colleagues and clients while ensuring a high level of efficiency and effectiveness.
• Ability to work in a context of constant change.
• Proficiency in French (spoken and written).
