Description of the Ministry or Organization

In collaboration with the team members, you will be called upon to provide legal support to the client, the judiciary, and in the courtroom. You will exercise your work in close collaboration with a judge for the proper administrative management of the office and in the courtroom in order to assist the judge in the conduct of hearings and the work of the Court.

Here is an overview of your main responsibilities: At the judge's office to provide legal and administrative support for the office

  • Administer the judge's schedule. Organize the judge's travel and prepare claims for travel expenses and travel allowances. Welcome visitors, sort, and process all received correspondence and prepare responses;
  • Review spelling, grammar, syntax, and layout of all documents;
  • Ensure that all files are complete, that deadlines are met, and that you subsequently perform all necessary administrative and legal formalities;
  • Analyze the compliance of the various procedures submitted and ensure the progression of the file according to the procedures or orders rendered;
  • Exchange with the parties involved, including lawyers, information regarding the conduct of hearings, communicate or obtain the useful information for the file and inform the concerned judges;
  • Perform the administrative support of a legal nature to the judge, such as the analysis, verification, and follow-up of the various files, the verification of the legal content and the preparation of pre-hearing notes and summary tables of upcoming cases.
  • Before, during, and after hearings
  • Update, according to established procedures, the entire court file, receive and file the pieces, deposit them in the file or ensure their custody in accordance with the chain of possession;
  • Ensure the effective conduct of hearings, notably, by completing all required documents such as the minutes as well as the various forms according to the decisions of the court, and she ensures the proper functioning of the recording and videoconferencing systems;
  • At the end of the hearing, analyze the decisions of the court, in order to produce and transmit the relevant information and documents for the continuation of the procedure and channel them to the concerned parties.
  • Salary Scale: From $45,037 to $64,505*
  • The salary of $64,505 refers to the 102% increase in the salary attributed to the employee who has stayed one (1) year at the last step of his/her employment class and who has obtained a satisfactory performance during his/her last annual evaluation.

A temporary decreasing bonus of 6% is also added to the salary until December 4, 2026. Note that the sum of the temporary decreasing bonus and the salary cannot be greater than the maximum of the salary scale.

These amounts do not take into account the 0.11% adjustment, based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI). This adjustment will be made later, retroactively as of March 31, 2026.

Desired Profile and Application Procedures

Essentials

  • Hold a high school diploma (DES) or a relevant certificate of studies recognized by the competent authority.

Each missing year of education can be compensated by two years of paid or unpaid work experience, including family workload. The DES can also be compensated by a professional specialization certificate or a professional studies diploma.

  • Possess two years of relevant post-secondary education.

A person can submit their application if they are in the process of completing the last year of required education.

For consideration, any education completed outside of Canada must be subject to a comparative evaluation (equivalence certificate) issued by the Ministry of Immigration, Francization, and Integration.

Each missing year of post-secondary education can be compensated by two years of relevant experience in relation to the position's duties.

Relevant experience acquired in the job market as well as that acquired outside of the job market is recognized. Furthermore, relevant experiences acquired during the same period can be cumulated without, however, constituting an experience of a duration greater than this period of concomitance.

  • Possess Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status or a work permit issued by the competent federal authority allowing you to work within our organization.

A person pending the proof of their permanent resident status or a work permit allowing them to work within our organization can submit their application to the present selection process. However, they must be authorized to work legally in Canada at the time of their appointment.

  • Have appropriate knowledge of French for the functions.
  • Hiring is conditional upon the results of a security check.
