Automation Technician
Location: Granby, Quebec, Canada
We are looking for an Automation Technician to join our dynamic team at Hershey in Granby, working on day shifts. A stimulating, clean, and air-conditioned environment awaits you.
As an Automation Technician, your main tasks will involve maintaining and servicing PLCs, operator interfaces, communication protocols, and/or robots. In case of system failures or malfunctions, you will also be called upon to support the on-site electrical team.

Job Responsibilities
- Respond to service calls to identify and correct electrical issues on various factory equipment.
- Read and diagnose problems from drawings and manuals.
- Perform program backups and track PLC and HMI obsolescence on various equipment.
- Update licenses and install programming software.
- Analyze, understand, and/or modify non-digital inter-PLC communication.
- Create and/or modify programs (PLC, operator interface, etc.).
- Identify and diagnose PLC, interface, communication, and other anomalies, proposing solutions.
- Define critical parts and manage equipment inventory.
- Update department technical documents.
- Apply safety and food safety rules.
- Perform preventive maintenance according to the preventive maintenance program.
- Follow applicable SQF policies for tasks.
- Comply with BPF rules.
Required Qualifications
- DEC or AEC in Electrical Engineering Technology – Automation and Control
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar position
- Strong knowledge of communication protocols: DeviceNet, Profinet, OI Link, Ethernet IP, and others
- Strong knowledge of Allen Bradley
- Proficiency in various programming languages (ladders, grafcet, text) and ability to diagnose and modify PLC programs
- Proficiency in using computer tools and instruments
- Proficiency in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Leadership, organizational skills, resourcefulness, and teamwork ability
- Self-motivated and respectful
- Communication skills and initiative
- Successful completion of tests to validate programming, electrical, and computer skills
- Interview process applicable
