The municipal engineering team at the Quebec office has a sub-team dedicated to the realization of projects in northern regions, in Quebec and Canada. In full growth, this team wants to welcome a CPI to support the development and realization of its mandates. The selected person will assist the technical team in the design, planning, coordination, and supervision of work carried out in the Great North of Quebec and Canada. The person sought will demonstrate good professional judgment, openness, a spirit of collaboration, and good character. She will also show an interest in fieldwork and technical design. This position represents a great opportunity to participate in stimulating and meaningful projects in unique environments, while developing specialized expertise in northern municipal engineering. The person will be called upon to work in close collaboration with the Indigenous communities involved in the projects, both during field interventions and at various stages of design.
Travel
The person will be required to travel to the Great North of Quebec and Canada for stays of approximately 1 to 4 weeks, depending on the needs of the projects. These trips may include site visits, surveys, construction supervision, meetings, and presentations with stakeholders. These are unique opportunities to discover the vast spaces of the Quebec and Canadian North while participating in engineering projects that have a positive impact on communities.
Main Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design of municipal infrastructures in a northern context
- Participate in the preparation of plans, estimates, technical documents, and studies
- Perform technical calculations and analyses related to projects
- Assist project managers in the technical and administrative coordination of mandates
- Collaborate with the various professionals involved in the projects
- Participate in construction supervision and the monitoring of work compliance
- Prepare reports, site visit reports, technical notes, and follow-up documents
- Support the team in the management of schedules, deliverables, and client communications
- Contribute to the identification of constraints specific to northern regions, including site access, weather conditions, and the valid period for the realization of work
Qualifications
- 0 to 8 years of experience
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction engineering
- Strong interest in projects in northern and remote regions
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
- Meticulousness, autonomy, and sense of organization
- Resourcefulness, good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Great adaptability to the unexpected and ability to adapt to various project contexts and particular field conditions
- Ease of writing clear and structured technical documents
- Availability to make short to medium-term trips to remote regions as previously described (1 to 4 weeks)
- Excellent mastery of English, both spoken and written
- Member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec or eligibility to become one
Assets
- Specialization, training, or experience related to permafrost or northern environments
- Knowledge of geotechnical, climatic, or environmental issues specific to northern regions
- Experience in construction supervision
- Experience in the design of municipal infrastructures
- Knowledge of the realities specific to Indigenous communities
