The Centre de gestion de l'équipement roulant (CGER) is a general direction that falls under the sub-ministry for support to operations and civil security (SMSESC) of the Ministry of Transportation and Sustainable Mobility. The organization's mission is to provide public sector organizations in Quebec with complete fleet management services, according to the best business practices, in an optimization of resources and sustainable development perspective. The CGER's clientele includes ministries, cities and municipalities, public organizations, the health and social services network, the education network, and the federal government.
The CGER relies on the collaboration of approximately 400 employees to fulfill its mission and has a network of 57 mechanics workshops spread across the entire Quebec territory. It manages a fleet of over 10,000 vehicles and related equipment.

Mechanic, Class II
The challenges we propose
- Prepare and assemble new vehicles (electrical wiring, installation of various components);
- Repair and maintain mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems;
- Repair and maintain the main components of various machines;
- Perform setup and calibration of equipment;
- Carry out inspection work and detect defects;
- Apply the Preventive Maintenance Program (PEP) of the Société de l'assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ).

- Salary:
$29.85 per hour * A retention and attraction bonus of 15% will be added to the salary.
The salary scale can be viewed on the Treasury Board Secretariat website. At the time of hiring, the step will be determined based on the candidate's experience.

- The person we are looking for must meet the job requirements:
- Hold a Diploma of Vocational Studies (DEP) with specialization in heavy vehicle mechanics, construction equipment mechanics, automotive mechanics, or another relevant specialization, or hold a certificate of studies whose equivalence is recognized by the competent authority;
- A person can submit their application if they are in the process of completing the final year of studies required to obtain the required diploma.
AND
- Have 2 years of experience in the exercise of the duties of the mechanical maintenance assistant class, in this title or an equivalent title.
OR
- Have 4 years of relevant experience in the maintenance and repair of motorized equipment and auxiliary equipment as an automotive mechanic, diesel mechanic, heavy machinery mechanic, or an equivalent title.
Each block of two missing years of relevant experience can be compensated by one additional year of relevant and higher-level studies, above the minimum required studies for the employment class.
An ASP or DEP relevant to the duties, totaling between 600 and 900 hours, can compensate for one missing year of relevant experience.
An ASP or DEP relevant to the duties, totaling at least 900 hours, can compensate for two missing years of relevant experience.
- Possess a Class 5 driver's license;
- Possess Canadian citizenship, permanent resident status, or a work permit issued by the competent federal authority to occupy a position in the public service of Quebec;
- Have appropriate knowledge of French for the functions.
