The Green Hydrogen and Bioenergy Development Office (BDHVB) plans and coordinates the deployment of the green hydrogen and bioenergy sectors, in addition to supporting companies and promoters, as a complement to direct electrification of the economy and energy efficiency.

A variety of challenges to overcome!

Your job within the BDHVB will bring you to:

  • Document the regional energy potential related to forest biomass and produce mappings of the best approaches and forest management models that are being developed internationally in the field of forest biomass energy valorization, and this, in synergy with the traditional forest products and pulp and paper industry;
  • Document, analyze and implement the priority actions to be deployed in order to:

+ Dynamize and evolve the traditional model of the forest products industry towards bioenergies; + Diversify the energy basket; + Increase the resilience of the energy ecosystem in the different regions of Quebec by using forest biomass wisely.

Remuneration

  • The remuneration is determined based on the relevance of your schooling and experiences in relation to the job. Therefore, it is important to detail them well in your online application form which will serve as a reference;
  • The amounts associated with the different levels can be consulted on the website of the Treasury Board Secretariat;
  • A 6.5% surcharge is added to this rate to compensate for certain social benefits;
  • These amounts take into account the 0.11% adjustment, based on the consumer price index (CPI). This adjustment will be made later, retroactively as of March 31, 2026.

Working hours

  • In addition to working during the day, Monday to Friday, you could enjoy adapted schedules that favor the conciliation between your work, your studies and your personal life:
  • + Regular schedule of 14 hours/week during study sessions;
  • + Schedule of 21 hours/week during reading weeks;

+ Schedule of 35 hours/week during the summer period and during the period between sessions.

Skills and assets sought

The candidate must be able to integrate the aspects associated with the entire logistics chain of forest products and bioenergy production as well as the crucial aspects of economic competitiveness in order to identify the best solutions to dynamize the forest sector and increase its economic, social and environmental impacts in a renewed management model where bioenergies/bioproducts are destined to play an increased role.

Requirements related to the job

  • To occupy a student job in the public service, you must be enrolled or registered full-time in a university-level study program (or part-time if you are in the penultimate or final session of your study program) in the field of forest engineering (specialization in bioenergies, forest management and forestry economics) or in any other relevant field or a relevant study certificate whose equivalence is recognized by the competent authority;
  • More specifically, we are looking for a motivated and eager-to-learn student;
  • Have appropriate French knowledge for the job assignments;
  • Be legally authorized or authorized to work in Canada.
