MAPAQ is responsible for developing the biofood sector, which includes agriculture, fishing, aquaculture, processing, food commerce, and food services. The ministry serves a diverse clientele consisting of agricultural companies, fishermen, aquaculturists, processors, distributors, retailers, restaurateurs, and consumers in the biofood sector.

The Local Purchase and Commercialization Department (DALC) supports biofood sector companies in the development of their markets in Quebec. It carries out and supports various promotional and business networking initiatives in the restaurant, hotel, institutional, and retail markets. It ensures the implementation of the National Strategy for Quebec Food Purchases (SNAAQ).

Working within the DALC is contributing to the positioning of Quebec food and the dynamism of our economy. This internship will take place within a team dedicated to promoting Quebec's biofood offer, developing markets, and mobilizing stakeholders for local food purchases in the biofood sector in Quebec.

In the course of the internship, you will have the opportunity to:

Contribute to the strategic mandate of the DALC to support companies in the development of their markets in Quebec:

  • Organize and support commercialization activities for Quebec biofood products (webinars, missions, business meetings, buyer receptions, and promotional events);
  • Collaborate with the DALC advisors and industry partners to prepare, coordinate, and carry out these activities;
  • Develop partnerships with key actors to better position local biofood products on Quebec markets;
  • Support the preparation of biofood companies for business meetings with Quebec buyers, particularly by organizing training webinars;
  • Participate in the collection, updating, and tracking of information on Quebec biofood companies in the internal RITA management system;
  • Establish a customer satisfaction management process for buyers and biofood companies;
  • Ensure the processing, tracking, and analysis of customer satisfaction survey results to improve the customer experience;
  • Contribute to various projects aimed at preparing biofood companies for market development in Quebec.
  • Compensation:

We offer you a minimum hourly rate of $27.19. A 6.5% surcharge is added to this rate to compensate for certain social benefits.

Hybrid remote work is possible, depending on organizational tags.

Desired profile and application modalities

This internship is for a student enrolled in a bachelor's program in marketing, agri-economics, consumer sciences, administration, or any other relevant discipline. At least one year must have been completed in this program.

More specifically, we are looking for a motivated student who wishes to develop their skills through an internship and demonstrates:

  • A strong interest in the agri-food sector and the economic development of Quebec;
  • Excellent communication skills with the clientele, whether in person, by phone, on social networks, or by email, while maintaining a quality service;
  • Ability to work in a team, collaborate with different services, and contribute to a positive work environment;
  • Proficiency in French, both written and oral, essential for the preparation of files and communications with partners and the clientele;
  • Autonomy, initiative, and diligence;
  • Research, analysis, and synthesis skills;
  • Planning and organization skills.

Requirements to occupy the internship

  • Ensure with your educational institution that this internship is in line with the requirements and objectives of your study program and that an internship agreement can be concluded. The modalities of the internship are determined by this agreement.
  • Be legally authorized to work in Canada.
