Mandate: The SMCS contributes to ensuring a secure living environment for the population. In collaboration with institutions and organizations sharing this mission, it informs the courts and manages the care of individuals entrusted to it, promoting their social reintegration in the community or in detention.

What You Can Expect on a Daily Basis

• Produce risk and need assessments for offenders;
• Provide appropriate instances with social reintegration potential, risk assessments, and other evaluations;
• Be the reference for monitoring correctional intervention plans with Correctional Services Officers (CSOs) and partners;
• Accompany and guide offenders following evaluations, with the goal of reintegration;
• Participate in study committees for release requests and other committees, when required;
• Recommend specialized services to individuals based on their criminogenic needs.
• Salary Scale: From $55,611 to $103,369*

The weekly work hours for this position are 35 hours.

Desired Profile and Application Procedures

Essentials to Join Us

• Hold a bachelor's degree requiring a minimum of 90 credits in one of the following disciplines: criminology, social work, orientation sciences, psychology, psychoeducation, sexology, or any other relevant discipline, or a relevant education certificate whose equivalence is recognized by the competent authority.

+ The required degree can be compensated by a combination of university diplomas in relevant disciplines totaling a minimum of 90 credits or by a master's degree in a relevant discipline comprising a minimum of 45 credits.

+ For consideration, any education completed outside Canada must be subject to a comparative evaluation (equivalence certificate) issued by the Ministry of Immigration, Francization, and Integration. Candidates who do not have the comparative evaluation for the required education cannot be hired.

• Be a member in good standing, upon taking office, of one of the following six professional orders:
• + Professional Order of Criminologists of Quebec;
• + Order of Social Workers and Family Therapists of Quebec;
• + Order of Career Counsellors of Quebec;
• + Order of Psychologists of Quebec;
• + Order of Psychoeducators of Quebec;

+ Professional Order of Sexologists of Quebec.

A person can submit their application if they are in the process of meeting the requirements to be a member of this order. However, upon appointment, this person must be registered on the Order's table.

It is important to complete the "Professional Order" section in your application file and attach the necessary documents confirming your progress with the relevant order.

• Possess Canadian citizenship, permanent resident status, or a work permit issued by the competent federal authority to hold a position in the Quebec public service.

+ A person pending proof of permanent resident status or a work permit can submit their application to this selection process. However, they must be authorized to work legally in Canada at the time of their appointment.

• Have appropriate French language skills for the functions.
• The selected person may need to meet security investigation requirements.

• Master interview techniques and demonstrate relational skills;
• Demonstrate good analytical and judgmental capacity;
• Show positive leadership, good team spirit, and effective work organization.
