Ministry of Public Security (MPS): Sub-ministry of Correctional Services (SMCS) - East Quebec Correctional Network Management (DGRCE) – Correctional Services Division (DSA) Bas-Saint-Laurent – Correctional Professional Services Division (DSPC).

Mandate: The SMCS contributes to ensuring a secure living environment for the population. In collaboration with the institutions and organizations that share this mission, it enlightens the courts and ensures the care of the people entrusted to it, in the community or in detention, by promoting their social reintegration.

The new challenges of your daily life

• Exercise clinical supervision activities and, in community offices, review file activities with community intervenors to ensure the follow-up of the intervention plan and compliance with conditions;
• Provide the required enlightenment to the courts and other instances regarding offenders;
• Evaluate these individuals and develop correctional intervention plans;
• Accompany offenders in a process of responsibility and awareness;
• Assume the legal and clinical responsibility of the offender clientele.
• Salary scale: From $55,611 to $103,369*
• *The amounts associated with the different levels can be viewed on the website of the* *Secretariat of the Treasury Board**.*

The number of weekly working hours for this position is 35 hours.

Desired profile and application procedures

Do you recognize yourself in these conditions?

• Hold a first-cycle university degree requiring a minimum of 90 credits (bachelor's degree) in one of the following disciplines: criminology, social work, orientation sciences, psychology, psychoeducation, sexology or any other relevant discipline or a relevant study certificate whose equivalence is recognized by the competent authority.

+ The required degree can be compensated by a combination of university degrees in relevant disciplines totaling a minimum of 90 credits or by a master's degree in a relevant discipline comprising a minimum of 45 credits.

+ For consideration, any schooling completed outside Canada must be subject to a comparative evaluation (equivalence certificate) issued by the Ministry of Immigration, Francization and Integration. Candidates who do not hold the comparative evaluation linked to the required schooling cannot be hired.

• Be a member in good standing, upon taking office, of one of the following six professional orders:
• + Professional Order of Criminologists of Quebec;
• + Order of Social Workers and Family Therapists of Quebec;
• + Order of Counsellors and Counsellors of Orientation of Quebec;
• + Order of Psychologists of Quebec;
• + Order of Psychoeducators and Psychoeducators of Quebec;

+ Professional Order of Sexologists of Quebec.

A person can submit their application if they are on track to meet the requirements to be a member of that order. However, upon appointment, this person must be registered on the Order's table.

It is important to complete the "Professional Order" section in your application file and attach the necessary documents confirming your progress with the relevant order.

• Possess Canadian citizenship, permanent resident status or a work permit issued by the competent federal authority to hold a position in the public service of Quebec.

+ A person pending the proof of their permanent resident status or a work permit can submit their application to the present selection process. However, they must be authorized to work legally in Canada at the time of their appointment.

• Have appropriate knowledge of French for the functions.
• The selected person may need to meet the requirements of a security check.

Other elements of the desired profile

• Possess good knowledge of the Quebec correctional network, the Quebec Correctional System Act and the functioning of the judicial system;
• Master interview, helping relationship, awareness and mobilization techniques, animation and coaching techniques;
• Possess good analytical capacity.
