CGI is seeking an Intermediate or Senior IBM i (AS/400) Developer to contribute to the development, enhancement, and maintenance of critical business applications within a stable and high-performing technology environment.
You will join a multidisciplinary team where collaboration, innovation, and development quality are at the core of every project. In this role, you will participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis through solution deployment, while working closely with business analysts, business users, quality assurance teams, architects, and infrastructure specialists.
We are looking for a developer who is passionate about IBM i technologies, recognized for their attention to detail, autonomy, and ability to translate business requirements into robust, scalable, and maintainable technical solutions.
Your future duties and responsibilities
As an IBM i (AS/400) Developer, you will:
Design, develop, maintain, and optimize applications on the IBM i (AS/400) platform.
Develop solutions using RPG, RPGLE, CL, SQL, and DB2 for i.
Participate in the analysis of business and technical requirements to propose solutions aligned with business objectives.
Perform impact analyses for enhancement requests and identify technical risks, dependencies, and constraints.
Develop and maintain programs, batch processes, reports, interfaces, and database objects.
Participate in the integration of internal applications with external systems.
Perform unit testing, resolve defects, and ensure the quality of deliverables.
Participate in code reviews and promote development best practices.
Prepare and maintain technical documentation, development specifications, deployment procedures, and test results.
Collaborate with business analysts, project managers, QA teams, system administrators, and other technical teams.
Participate in production deployments and provide technical support during implementation when required.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on application performance, quality, and maintainability.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
Education
College diploma or university degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Experience
Minimum of 5 years of experience developing on IBM i (AS/400).
Demonstrated experience with RPG, RPGLE, and CL development.
Strong experience with SQL and DB2 for i.
Experience maintaining and enhancing enterprise applications.
Experience across all phases of the software development lifecycle.
Experience working in a mission-critical production environment.

Assets
The following qualifications are considered strong assets: Experience with ILE RPG, Free-Format RPG, or SQL RPGLE.
Knowledge of application lifecycle management tools such as Git, Azure DevOps, or equivalent.
Experience with REST Web Services, XML, or JSON on IBM i.
Knowledge of integration technologies between IBM i and distributed platforms.
Experience working in an Agile environment.
Experience in the financial services industry or another highly transactional environment.

Language Requirements
Bilingualism in French and English, both spoken and written, is required, as the role involves regular interactions with clients, business partners, and teams located across various Canadian provinces.
CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $70,000 to $135,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
