Under the supervision of the finishing department supervisor, the Finishing Technician performs tasks related to the finishing of metal parts. They mask the surfaces of parts that should not be affected or touched by paint or surface treatments using various tools and materials. They ensure that necessary paint touch-ups are made with great care.

Tasks and Responsibilities
- Read and interpret drawings (operation details) using computer tools;
- Assist the surface treatment line operator in the piece treatment process by hanging and blowing the pieces for cleaning;
- Perform masking of pieces before surface treatment and painting using work tools (masking paper, blade, plugs, etc.) and proceed with unmasking and washing of pieces;
- Perform minor repairs before or after treatment using a file, sandpaper, grinder (25000);
- Ensure the conformity of masking strips (dimensions and positioning) once applied to the piece by consulting the DO and the drawing;
- Create masking strips using the CUTWORKS software and a micrometer;
- Perform paint layer thickness reading using a tool (ELCOMETER), both for the primer and finish coat, and ensure conformity according to customer specifications based on the average results obtained;
- Apply a treatment (Chem film) to pieces that need to be re-treated;
- Perform visual inspection of painted pieces and make necessary paint touch-ups by hand to then identify the pieces by ink jet;
- Perform touch-ups on pieces, if necessary, using a spray gun;
- Operate equipment related to customer tests, i.e., non-destructive tests (targeting test, cleaning, pressure test, etc.);
- Perform various tasks and minor jobs related to the finishing department;
- Participate in the training and integration of newly hired employees into their positions;
- Participate in continuous improvement work and ensure to always improve work methods and ways of doing things in your service.
Conditions
- Salary: Between $24.21 to $34.31 per hour, depending on the candidate's or candidate's experience and skills;
- Work location: 490 Boulevard des Érables, Valleyfield QC J6T 6G3;
- Work schedule: Night shift;
- Work mode: On-site.
