General Description of the Role:

Reporting to the Industrial Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician (CNC & Industrial Equipment) is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and continuous operation of CNC machines and all other equipment and machinery throughout the facility. The role supports Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) by performing preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and assisting with equipment installations and continuous improvement projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performs preventive and corrective maintenance activities per the standards and schedule set by the industrial maintenance supervisor.
  • Conducts regular inspection of all the machinery/equipment in the facility and identifies the need to modify current preventive standards after assessing risk.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems in adherence to KPIs to ensure minimum disruptions in the production processes.
  • Recommends, calibrates, and installs new machinery, jigging and auxiliaries when required.
  • Executes projects in conjunction with cross-functional teams (Stores, production, building, etc.) to achieve/improve business metrics/objectives.
  • Logs all projects and TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) activities in ERP following the departmental standard procedure.
  • Identifies the requirement for parts/tools/machines/auxiliaries and advises the Industrial maintenance supervisor to purchase/replenish by the Kanban system.
  • Ensures that all safety norms, OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) specifications and government regulations for industrial settings are followed.
  • Consistently updates machinery documentation, contacts, and part pricing in the maintenance database in SharePoint.
  • Analyses machine salvage value/trends and advice on Keep-and-maintain vs. sell-and-buy-new business investment decisions.
  • Works with Industrial Maintenance Supervisor to continuously improve department processes and service capabilities.
  • Other duties as required and/or assigned by the Manufacturing Manager Methods or the Industrial Maintenance Supervisor.

Education

Technical Diploma related to machine operation and maintenance.

Experience

Minimum 3 years of experience in a production environment, in the maintenance department. Working knowledge of machines such as CNC Milling Machines, Double saws, Single Mitre Saws, Lasers, Bending machines, Punch Machines, Manual milling machines, Wire stripping machines, Forklifts, Rivet guns, Air compressors, Packaging conveyors, MIG welding machines etc.

Software: Office Suite, ERP

Skills

A solid understanding of safety practices & regulations, machine maintenance (preventive + corrective) procedures, basic machine control wiring, relays & micro switches. Knowledge of production, good communication skills, Ability to work in a team setting, Multitasking, Hands-on work experience.

Languages: French and English *English is essential to communicate, support and provide services to individuals, employees or partners who do not speak French, particularly when they are outside the province of Quebec.
