Intermediate Engineer – Geotechnics
Work Location: Lévis Office
Your Work Environment at EXP
As an Intermediate Engineer in Geotechnics, you will join the Environment, Soils and Materials team at the Lévis office. You will participate in the realization of various geotechnical projects for municipal, institutional, industrial, and transportation clients across Quebec.
You will act as an autonomous professional within the mandates, while closely collaborating with senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams. You will be called upon to intervene in the planning of studies, technical analysis, and report writing, as well as in the support of field teams and business development.
What Your Workdays at EXP Entail
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise geotechnical studies for various types of projects.
- Use and interpret field data (boreholes, scissometer, piezocone, pressiometer, and dilatometer) and laboratory data.
- Perform geotechnical calculations and analyses and formulate technical recommendations.
- Write geotechnical reports, technical notes, and professional opinions.
- Ensure technical follow-up of drilling, sampling, and instrumentation work.
- Collaborate with civil engineering, structural, transportation, and environmental design teams.
- Participate in the preparation of service offers, budget estimates, and technical proposals.
- Mentor and guide more junior team members.
- Participate in client development and business relationship maintenance.
- Occasionally perform site visits and technical inspections.
- Other related tasks.
What Makes You an Asset for EXP
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, geology, or a relevant discipline.
- Master's degree in geotechnics.
- Active member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in geotechnics.
- Experience in the realization and analysis of geotechnical studies.
- Ability to use relevant geotechnical software, such as GeoStudio, Settle3, and Geologismiki.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Knowledge of the Canadian Foundation Engineering Manual, versions 2013 and 2023.
- Excellent knowledge of soil mechanics and rock mechanics.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Comfort working with a diverse clientele and building lasting professional relationships.
- Excellent technical writing skills in French.
- Experience working in Quebec and good knowledge of local regulatory context and practices.
- ASP Construction card.
- Valid driver's license.
