Web Developer – WordPress / PHP & Digital Projects

Azur Média inc. is looking for a versatile Web developer to participate in the development and evolution of our various digital projects.

We operate several websites and transactional platforms and continuously develop new projects. Therefore, we are looking for a person who is independent, resourceful, and solution-oriented, capable of both developing new features and understanding, maintaining, and improving existing systems.

Your main responsibilities

• Maintain and evolve our existing websites;
• Diagnose and fix technical issues and bugs;
• Modify and improve existing features;
• Develop new web features according to the company's needs;
• Participate in the design and creation of new websites and web projects;
• Develop or adapt extensions, integrations, and automations;
• Integrate different APIs and external services;
• Optimize performance, stability, and security of websites;
• Perform database interventions when necessary;
• Participate in the deployment and production of changes;
• Take charge of certain digital projects from need analysis to completion;
• Collaborate directly with management and team members to transform operational needs into concrete solutions.

• Linux hosting, cPanel / WHM;
• command line and WP-CLI.

The person does not need to know all our tools upon arrival but must be very comfortable in the WordPress ecosystem and capable of quickly understanding an existing environment.

Desired Profile

We are looking for someone who knows how to search, understand, and find solutions.

You could be the right person if:

• you have good experience in web development;
• WordPress is not limited to installing a theme and a few extensions for you;
• you are comfortable with PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and MySQL;
• you understand the structure and internal workings of WordPress;
• you are capable of working with hooks, filters, custom functions, and extensions;
• you are capable of diagnosing a problem rather than simply working around it;
• you are comfortable with sites already in production;
• you know how to work with APIs and understand technical documentation;
• you are organized and capable of managing several small projects simultaneously;
• you can take a sometimes very operational need and transform it into a technical solution;
• you are independent and not afraid to step out of your comfort zone to find a solution.

What we particularly appreciate

• Experience with WooCommerce;
• development of custom WordPress extensions or features;
• experience with REST APIs;
• knowledge of performance optimization and caching;
• knowledge of Linux, cPanel, SSH, and WP-CLI;
• experience with transactional platforms;
• ability to analyze and manipulate MySQL databases;
• experience in automation and integration of different systems;
• knowledge of technical SEO;
• experience in web project management.

We are not looking for someone who waits for an extremely detailed list of tasks before starting.

We are looking for a person to whom we can explain: "Here is our problem and here is what we would like to achieve." ...and who is capable of analyzing the situation, proposing a solution, developing, testing, and implementing it.

Our projects are varied and days are not always the same. It could be fixing a problem on an existing site in the morning, developing a new integration in the afternoon, and starting the architecture of a new project the next day.

Position: Full-time

Salary: $65,000 to $85,000 per year, depending on experience, technical skills, and level of autonomy.

We are mostly interested in skills, problem-solving ability, and real experience. The number of years of experience or degree is less important than what you are capable of achieving.
