WHAT IS THE WORK?

Location: Nunavut

Language:

French or English (our operations based in Nunavut require communication in English with local staff)

Rotation: 14-14 (Fly-in / Fly-out)

Hours: 11 hours per day or night

Salary: Competitive pay, overtime after 8 hours per day paid at time and a half.

Departure:

Several departure airports (Montreal, Mirabel, Quebec, Val d'Or, Mont-Joli, etc).

Reporting directly to the 1st Cook, the tasks of the 2nd Cook aim to assist the 1st Cook in production. The person must ensure that the necessary menu items are prepared, complete, tracked, and meet quality standards. The 2nd Cook must know how to work under pressure and manage their time well. They must demonstrate leadership and a positive attitude.

Tasks and Responsibilities of the 2nd Cook - Day Include, But Are Not Limited To, the Following

• Meet daily with the 1st Cook to discuss menu preparation and production strategy;
• Assist the 1st Cook in production;
• Prepare the hot menu sides;
• Ensure all necessary preparation is done, noted, and meets quality standards;
• Take the evening meal temperatures and record them in the log;
• Participate in cleaning and maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen and service areas;
• Ensure proper storage and rotation of food;
• Ensure all tasks are performed safely and immediately report any incidents or issues. Don’t let it pass, act now;
• Any other tasks as needed.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Requirements

• Diploma in hospitality, restaurant, or equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience;
• Minimum of 3 years of kitchen experience;
• Experience in work camps or remote areas (camps) is an asset;
• Previous experience working in isolated environments in the natural resources and/or construction industry is considered an asset.
• MAPAQ certification (handler and/or manager) is considered an asset;
