LAPORTE is looking for an Automation Technician with ideally 3 to 5 years of experience in designing automated systems to join its team in Quebec. Our Automation Technician will play a key role in designing, programming, commissioning, and drafting technical proposals for various projects in the food, pharmaceutical, and industrial sectors.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and understand client needs;
• Design automated systems and select equipment (control, instrumentation, motor commands, control panel design, etc.);
• Program PLCs and user interfaces;
• Participate in testing and commissioning of systems;
• Design and draw industrial control panels;
• Calculate power and control panel supply circuits;
• Apply the Canadian Electrical Code (Quebec);
• Draft technical proposals for control panel production;
• Participate in the execution of pharmaceutical validation tests (FAT);
• Ensure follow-up with equipment suppliers;
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary project team.

Requirements

• Diploma in Industrial Electronics;
• 3 to 5 years of experience in designing automated systems or control panels;
• Experience in designing automation schematics: power supplies, speed variators, PLCs, pneumatics, industrial networks, material lists, panel layouts, etc.;
• Knowledge of the Rockwell suite and Siemens products;
• Proficiency in AutoCAD (AutoCAD Electrical, an asset);
• Relevant experience in the engineering consulting field in the pharmaceutical or food industry, with an automated systems integrator or control panel manufacturer.
