Aeronautics Technician (Avionics)

With or Without E License

The Aircraft Maintenance Division (AMD) is part of the General Directorate of Government Air Services (GDGAS) and is responsible for the following within the Ministry:

• Perform maintenance, inspection, repair, and modification work on the fleet of 22 aircraft used by the GDGAS for wildfire fighting (CL-415, CL-215T, CL-215P), aeromedical transport (CL-601, CL-650, Dash 8), and territorial surveillance and search and rescue (Bell 412EP, Bell 412EPX, Airbus H145 helicopters);
• Modernize the aircraft and make interior modifications as needed for mission requirements;
• Ensure aircraft maintenance in compliance with the Canadian Aviation Regulations and within the framework of a Safety Management System and a Quality Assurance Program;
• Manage the training and skill development needs of the staff;
• Stay up-to-date with new technologies.

• Perform repairs, calibration, verification, inspection, installation, modification, overhaul, or periodic maintenance of avionics systems (electrical and electronic) in accordance with the *Maintenance Control Manual* and Transport Canada requirements;
• Participate in the technical tests required in accordance with the authorizations contained in the *Maintenance Control Manual* and Transport Canada requirements;
• Address reported anomalies by performing a technical analysis and evaluation of the problem (troubleshooting) and making the necessary corrections;
• Complete and ensure that all documentation related to maintenance, repair, or correction work on the aircraft and its components is in compliance with the regulations;
• Become familiar with the various technical instructions, plans, and estimates related to the installations and modifications to be carried out;
• Build, calibrate, and maintain control boxes or panels and test benches;
• Create avionics, electronic, and electrical plans for the various technical instructions.

• Annual Salary:
• Without license (unclassified grade): $57,001 to $62,950* based on experience
• With M1-M2 license (classified grade): $64,202 to $90,104* based on experience
• This remuneration corresponds to a treatment scale increase equivalent to one week of 40-hour work. In addition to the base remuneration:
• Performance bonuses based on work schedule (evening, on-call, etc.)
• A 2% bonus in connection with the Canadian Aviation Regulations;
• An attraction and retention bonus of 10%;
• A fixed tool allowance of $14.22 per pay;
• Possibility of working overtime

The remuneration is determined based on the relevance of your additional education and experience in relation to the position. Therefore, it is important to detail them in your application form, which will serve as a reference.

The Candidate Must Meet the Job Requirements

• For the unclassified grade: Hold a college diploma in aeronautics with a relevant specialization*

+ Alternatively, a person may be admitted if they have completed an acceptable basic training approved by the federal authority; AND compensate for each year of missing education with two years of relevant experience on the main aircraft systems or different aircraft structures.

• For the classified grade: Hold a Transport Canada-issued Aircraft Maintenance Technician License (E);
• Possess Canadian citizenship, permanent resident status, or a work permit issued by the federal authority competent to occupy a position in the Quebec Public Service2;
• Have appropriate French language skills for the position.
