Reporting to the Director of Administration, the buyer is responsible for procuring products for resale and managing the inventory of certain product lines for the Quebec region (Blainville and Quebec centers). The buyer also has the task of facilitating stock transfers between branches.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Purchase required products and establish replenishment cycles.
- Plan product deliveries.
- Determine products that can be transferred from one branch to another rather than purchased from a supplier.
- Examine and control the stock levels of assigned products, including sample stocks.
- Enter data accurately into the JDE purchasing system, including lead times, review cycles, and packaging formats.
- Work with the sales team to liquidate slow-moving stocks at the most advantageous price.
- Submit a list of slow-moving UGS to the CEO to stimulate appropriate measures.
- Be familiar with supplier policies regarding claims and returns of defective products.
- Maintain effective working relationships with suppliers.
- Implement price changes on sales department lists following revisions provided by suppliers.
Requirements KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Have at least two years of experience in the purchasing field.
- Possess excellent organizational skills.
- Be detail-oriented.
- Have good knowledge of Excel and Word programs.
- Be able to communicate effectively with internal staff and work in a team-oriented environment.
- Be capable of working autonomously.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
- Excellent knowledge of French is a requirement of the job.
- Intermediate English is a requirement of the position.
EDUCATION
- Possess a high school diploma.
- A diploma or certificate in business administration would be an asset.
- Post-secondary courses in purchasing would also be an asset.
