Lantic is currently recruiting for the position of Health & Safety Coordinator for the Operations department based at our Montreal refinery. Reporting to the Director of Occupational Health and Safety, the incumbent will ensure the respect of the general culture related to safety in the refinery and Montreal offices by verifying, maintaining, and improving the health and safety program in collaboration with their team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify and analyze work-related risks and participate in the implementation of appropriate action plans and corrective actions;
  • Provide support to the plant management team in the prevention and resolution of health & safety issues and in the implementation of the SST strategy;
  • Advise and influence the management team regarding best practices in SST;
  • Coordinate SST activities, audits, emergency measures, SST committee, safety training, etc;
  • Develop and distribute security training modules and programs that meet legal, policy, procedure, and company practice requirements;
  • Collaborate with Human Resources in the return-to-work process and new employee integration programs;
  • Design, review, and update the health and safety programs for the Montreal plant;
  • Participate in various SST committees;
  • Conduct training and information sessions;
  • Participate in the maintenance and improvement of various management systems in place, such as locking systems, confined space systems, SIMDUT systems, incident investigations, etc.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • University studies in occupational health and safety (or related field);
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience in health and safety in an industrial setting;
  • Field experience in health and safety;
  • Professional Safety Accreditation License (PSAC) - an asset;
  • Experience in a unionized environment;
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Office);
  • Team spirit, good communicator and mobilizer;
  • Sharp sense of responsibilities and good organization;
  • Flexibility, autonomy, and rigor;
  • Sense of urgency and critical thinking;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
