The team builds tools, platforms, and workflows that support VFX and Feature Animation pipelines across DNEG’s global studios.

Much of the work focuses on artist-facing tools, large production pipelines, simulation and rendering workflows, and systems that need to run reliably across distributed teams.

Core Services is looking for an Associate Software Developer to join its Data Frameworks domain.

The Core Services group provides foundational technologies to other technology groups within DNEG. We are a team of software developers who architect, build, and provide geographically spread, enterprise-level, mission-critical infrastructure. We create services, frameworks, and products that other teams rely upon to build and deliver their technology solutions. We are the core of all things technology at DNEG.

The Data Frameworks domain in Core Services provides foundational software to other teams that are intended to be utilized to provide end-user functionality. We provide abstraction layers to the core database’s data models that are utilized across various products, and automation libraries and frameworks to assist software developers in creating consistent automation.

As an Associate Software Developer in the Data Frameworks domain, you will work alongside our senior developers in developing new features, troubleshooting issues raised by other technology teams, and maintaining existing software products through their annual update cycle.

You will

  • Troubleshoot tickets related to software owned by Data Frameworks
  • Provide timely updates on tickets
  • Perform maintenance tasks for existing software products, such as updating third-party dependencies
  • Develop incremental product enhancements under the guidance of senior developers
  • Write documentation for developed software, create / update troubleshooting playbooks

Must Have

  • Programming experience in Python
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or 1+ years of equivalent experience in software development

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Git or other version control systems
  • Knowledge of database technologies
  • Knowledge of SQL programming language
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Eagerness to tackle problems head-on

*Please note that this is a unionized position and will be covered by a collective agreement between DNEG and IATSE, in the coming months. As a unionized employee, you will be required to join the union and will benefit from the conditions set out in the collective agreement. Union dues will be required once the collective agreement is in place.* *The base salary range for this full-time position is $60,000 CAD to $71,000 CAD. DNEG salary ranges are determined by function, department, level, and location. An individual's pay within a given range is determined by their transferable or job-related skills and work experience. Salary ranges are modified from time to time based on external market data collected through our third-party surveys.*
