Physical/Optical Engineering Designer

Summary

Under the supervision of the CTO, you will participate in revolutionary development projects aimed at having positive impacts on the environment and improving manufacturing operations in the international market.

You will also act as a project manager to ensure good coordination with the various stakeholders.

Access to the expertise of a multidisciplinary team of over 400 people (digital vision, robotics, software, cloud) within the OPTEL Group.

Main Responsibilities

• Photonic System Integration: Collaborate on the electronic design of a photonic module.
• Local Network & Telecommunications: Participate in the integration of our decentralized local communication network allowing robots to navigate with centimeter precision.
• Circuit Design and Prototyping: Design small printed circuit boards (PCB) and perform diagnostic tests on an oscilloscope.
• Rapid Prototyping and Physical Testing: Actively participate in workshop assembly and conduct component validation tests in a controlled environment.

Required Skills

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Physical Engineering
• Basics in lasers, optics, thermal, and instrumentation.
• Programming: Proficiency in C/C++ for microcontrollers (STM32, ESP32 or similar ARM architecture) and understanding of communication architectures (CAN Bus, I2C, SPI).
• Data Analysis: Processing of test results (Python, MATLAB or advanced Excel).
• Optics/Photonics: Knowledge in optics and use of high-power lasers. Capable of setting up a test bench (lenses, mirrors, power meters, laser wattmeters).
• Bonus, rapid prototyping: Knowledge of CAD (OnShape, SolidWorks, Fusion360), 3D printing, and small mechanical/electrical assemblies to manufacture test supports.
• Leadership rigor: Capable of maintaining an impeccable laboratory notebook, writing clear test reports, following a schedule, and coordinating the work of different stakeholders.
