DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION'S TASKS (indicative): Come build the next generation of UQAM applications

We are creating a new team dedicated to the rapid development of modern institutional applications, leveraging the capabilities of generative artificial intelligence to accelerate design, development, and testing. Our goal is to redefine how applications are developed at UQAM.

We are looking for an experienced developer who wants to go beyond traditional development and participate in the establishment of a new way to develop software.

You will be called upon to design applications that have a concrete impact on tens of thousands of users while also participating in the evolution of the team's development practices.

Initial Projects

Upon your arrival, you will contribute to the development of new institutional applications aimed at modernizing, automating, and optimizing certain university processes.

Several of these projects stand out for their innovative nature and the direct integration of artificial intelligence into business processes, particularly to facilitate document processing, support decision-making, and improve operational efficiency.

Initial assignments may cover various areas, such as operations management and the enhancement of services for the university community. You will also participate in other digital transformation projects that will evolve according to the UQAM's priorities.

What You Will Do

  • You will actively participate in all stages of software development:
  • Design the architecture of the applications;
  • Develop new features;
  • Collaborate in defining best development practices;
  • Use AI-based programming assistants (Kiro, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or equivalent tools);
  • Participate in the evolution of our DevSecOps pipeline;
  • Conduct code reviews;
  • Contribute to architecture decisions;
  • Mentor future team members;
  • Collaborate with analysts, architects, functional managers, and users.
  • Technologies

We favor modern technologies and automation.

  • NodeJS – TypeScript – JavaScript – Python
  • DevSecOps Git – CI/CD
  • Cloud Services AWS – Kubernetes
  • AI-assisted development tools (Kiro, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, etc.)

We are more interested in your ability to learn quickly and build robust solutions than in your knowledge of a specific technology.

What We Are Looking For

  • You love to develop.
  • You love to build.
  • You love to learn.
  • You love to challenge traditional ways of doing things.
  • You are curious about the possibilities offered by artificial intelligence applied to software development.
  • You love to work in a team and share your knowledge.

Why Join the Team?

  • Because you will have the opportunity to build something new.
  • You will not be limited to maintaining existing applications.
  • You will participate in creating a team, developing new strategic applications, and adopting new AI-assisted development practices.
  • You will directly contribute to the digital transformation of UQAM and have a real influence on the technological choices that will shape the projects of the coming years.
