Our team is united by a passion for excellence, bringing together diverse talents and interests. Despite our growth, we remain true to our roots as the local shop nearly 40 years ago. Dedicated to sustainability, we strive to minimize our environmental impact, ensuring our love for the outdoors is matched by our commitment to preserving it. Our vision

To be the biggest little shop. Our mission

To equip our clients with the most durable & well-designed goods through an ecommerce experience that's unequaled. Our values

Put the customer first. Just say it. Run with it. Have fun. The role

As a Senior Software Developer within the *User Journey* team, you will bring your technical leadership and creativity to design, develop, and deliver an optimal customer experience across our personalization, conversion, and purchasing systems.

Working across our entire tech ecosystem — from our Next.js storefront (front-end and back-end) to our Python microservices — you will play a key role in solving complex problems aligned with our business context, while actively evolving our architectures and adopting best practices. What you will do

  • Participate in the architectural design, development, testing, deployment, and delivery of large-scale applications and services across the full software development lifecycle.
  • Contribute to both the front-end and back-end of our Next.js storefront, as well as our Python microservices.
  • Propose creative technical and functional solutions that directly address the business goals related to the experience of our customers.
  • Ensure system resilience by automating testing and integrating infrastructure as code, containerization, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Create and modify SQL and NoSQL data sources based on application requirements.
  • Experiment with and adopt new technical approaches to continuously evolve team practices.
  • Play a key role in code reviews, technical documentation, and sprint planning.
  • Establish strong observability, ensure site performance, and maintain rigor regarding technical impacts on SEO, AEO, and accessibility.

Who you are

  • 6+ years of experience in software development with modern languages (Python, Node.js), strong full-stack proficiency with React/Next.js, and 2+ years designing large-scale distributed applications in ecommerce.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL/NoSQL databases, AWS cloud services, containerization, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and think creatively to solve business challenges within an agile team.
  • Knowledge of event-driven architectures, headless architecture, and MACH platforms like Commercetools, Bloomreach, Contentful, and Algolia is a plus.
  • Practical experience with monitoring tools (Datadog, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana) and interest in AI-assisted development.
  • Bilingual (French and English), both spoken and written.

What you will gain

Doing work that matters makes us happier and more fulfilled. The same principle applies to our social benefits: we offer you tools for health, well-being, and learning to help you achieve your goals. Here are some of them:

  • Discounts on fashion and outdoor brands for you and your family
  • Full access to a telemedicine service
  • Comprehensive medical and dental insurance
  • Five personal mobile days
  • 20 paid hours for volunteering and supporting our community
  • Learning and development opportunities
  • A balance between remote work and office
  • A modern workspace in the heart of Montreal's Little Italy for local candidates
  • The chance to participate in social committees, sports teams, group outings, and contests

Altitude Sports is committed to creating an inclusive workplace. We encourage team members to express their authentic selves and recognize the value of diverse perspectives that enrich our community. We warmly invite all individuals, regardless of factors such as race, national or ethnic origin, color, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, family status, genetic characteristics, or disability, to join us in creating their own story. French language proficiency is mandatory for all positions, given our operational context in Quebec. Specifically, roles involving interactions with clients or external parties outside Quebec require English language proficiency as a key requirement. We will prioritize candidates residing in Montreal during the hiring process. However, we may consider recruiting talent outside the region to ensure the quality and diversity of our team.
